It's time for an Iron Curtain image dump primarily featuring the People's Republic of Poland from 1970 to 1989, all context is in the file name of each image. I apologise in advance about the small resolution but they are the biggest available
Keep going OP, these are fantastic.
All following images are from the period 1975-1979

How about stories or stories we've heard from defectors?
I knew a defector from Poland, before he left he worked as a smuggler, participating in a black market that sold gold and other very basic items they didn't have, although to them, even to have the basics would be a luxury in the 70's.
He had to escape before they killed him, so he left as a younger man without his family, barely speaking English.
He went into construction because apparently that was his high school education over there.
After a while there was a machine accident, he lost his upper ring finger, although even I didn't notice until he pointed it out. He kept working for the company he was employed with though, instead of sueing, because he genuinely enjoyed working and actually making a living by it, without the threat of being shot for it too.
One of the hardest working men I've known
I'll be back in a bit

It's probably not grime but shit like tables/shelves/flowerpots behind the windows. Because the windows are high. And these things will get put against them.

Poland is a funny (well, sad) case in that unlike most of the other satelitte countries, it had experienced a pretty bad period during the 80s. With major civil unrest, shortages and the like. Even martial law. Meanwhile for the likes of Hungary or Czechoslovakia it was a much less retarded time than the the 70s.

Most of them look slightly malnourished and unhappy.

There is something enjoyable about thats 80's shit fashion combined with the bright light of communism.
And what looks to be a strong spring sun
