They have all of the signs of being a cult. I think the best way to look at them is half-religion, half-cult. Really, they have all the signs of being both, and most advisers who seek out and identify cults are pretty undecided on them.

They have horrible practices and their only redeeming value is that they value charity work. Even though this part is really just their means of spreading their faith. I have a friend who went headlong into his Mormon faith and I really miss him.

i talked to two mormans recently.
they report back to some 60 year old pedo who is rich as fuck. supplies them with everything. legit like food and accomodation. both from other countries who got sent here. they do nothing but walk around in dff suburbs for two years. they were trying to hide how good and free they treated but at what cost?? i could see in there eyes someone has touched their little willies

I don't know but I ate breakfast at a restaurant this morning and there was this family with no shit eleven kids. Two of their daughters were pretty hot. All the kids were dressed very nicely, the boys all in collared shirts and leather shoes and the triplet girls in matching dresses, and were well-behaved regardless of age or sex.

Its pretty cultic in how in hassles members to pay 10% of their pre tax income and denies them sacriments if they dont.

Mormonism is, at its core, exclusive. All the church-sanctioned programs are designed to make Mormon kids believe they're better than you and you must be converted at all costs. Even before they're sent packing to BFE to try and civilize the savages they try to do everything they can to drag you into their cult. They took already manipulative practices of Christianity and dialed them up to 11. Drilling bullshit dreamt up by a con man in the 1800s into kids' heads until they're convinced that God lives on the planet Kolob and you'll get your own planet too if you do what they say isn't exclusive to Mormonism, but it's far, far more extreme. Some of the shit I saw those fuckers do was almost repulsive.

Depends on where you live. I spent most of my life in SLC and Mormonism certainly doesn't feel like a cult there.

On the other hand, if you get lost and find yourself in Bumfuck, Utah, you get this The Hills Have Eyes vibe.

It depends mostly on how isolated and unexposed the community is. But then again this is true if every religion. The difference is the Mormons got too weird and moved into the middle of nowhere to be alone and insular, so you still see a lot of these backwards communities.
