These threads are probably really common but I'm curious of what /his/ predicts for humanity's future. Will it be a Star Trek esk paradise where humanity has put its differences aside so they may pursue knowledge and understanding? Or will it be a Distopian society where authority figures control everything? Maybe we kill ourselves? Or become a slave race to alien invaders? What do you think will happen? And Why?

>automation increases
>hundreds of millions are put out of work
>either a mass genocide or a socialist revolution occurs
>humanity lives in a tencho-socialist utopia until they are replaced by sentient machines
Also I'm sure genetic engineering will play a large role somehow.

assuming exploration of space blows up (it will), we'd probably see a repeat of how civilization was formed, only in SPAAACE
>communications are nigh impossible between Earth and colonies, resulting in isolated city-state type societies, limited trade and communication but development of distinct culture due to isolation
>planet states start to expand, start founding their own colonies while bitterly competing with other colonies for any and all habitable worlds within a reasonable distance
>communication breakthrough, allowing for far more effective trade and exchange of ideas, cultures, etc. autonomous nations, comprised of multiple planets and identities start to form
this is all i can reasonably predict, but in all honesty i'm probably wrong, the future is in constant shift and flow

lol, what's it like living in the '50s?

I'd like to hope so but we have no real reason to assume this.

For it to really open up we need to count on a technological breakthrough that makes it SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper to reach and extract resources within our solar system. And we also need to count on travel that's SIGNIFICANTLY faster to get out of our solar system.

Neither are a given, and just assuming "just believe in SCIENCE! Science will make all our dreams come true!" is naive.

All things considering we don't live in the worst of times.

True. I think it's mostly downhill from here. We live in a pretty comfortable time, but a lot of problems are rearing their heads. I don't feel like we're adequately prepared for most of them.

I dont think it will be overpopulation
In europe right now the population are not growing anymore like andorra or germany
Of course poor nations dont aply to this but in future for sure there will be a better family planification everywhere

The world 100 or 200 years from now probably won't be massively different from our world right now. More economic development, better gadgets, more and better medicine etc. The only major "negative" thing I can think of would be lots of third-world peasants dying due to climate change related effects, but if you're posting on 4chan you are probably both wealthy enough to not be such a peasant and uncaring enough that their lives are essentially meaningless to you. One plus of this massive die off for us will be that many of the women who flee it will wind up as prostitutes in first world nations so our immediate future will involve lots of cheap sucking and fucking from brown QTs.
