It's indeed not like in old times but family ties and reverence are mostly still going strong in Japan. Mostly the relations between parents and children are tighter than what you have in Europe or Merika.

It wold be good to keep in mind that Japan's notions of morality were pretty much in constant flux through its history. Early Japanese society lacked it quite a bit in fact. And today as a whole they're still fairly conservative in many aspects; just because all the ero products and shops exist in plain sight doesn't mean the entire society thinks it's OK. A lot of traditions, especially religious, have been undermined but that's due in great part to the actions of Westerners and of the Imperial government. When a century or so of social tumult was followed by the arrival of modernism, consumerism/capitalism and the like, and money started flowing, a lot of people just embraced the YOLO "philosophy".
