FROM WHICH "SOCIETY"?
Do you remember when kids had something called 'crazes' back in school?
I think it's unity of cpncepts. Like religion, science, politics, spirituality, "life goals", etc. They were all much more interconnected in the past. There really was no separation between a religious ideal and something you just really liked. Like in greek religion, every little stream of water and every mountain and every hill had it's own "spirit", and in rome every familiy had their own deity that they worshipped (lares). Today we have "separation of church and state", an unthinkable concept to ancient man. To ancient man there was no separation of anything, everything belonged to the same world. It's almost like peoples mentality was more conforming to the physical state of the world back then

But for memetic purposes, capes and manly jewelry. Male fashion overall fucking sucks and has done so for at least half a century. Even the typical 1950s fashion seems very bland to me.
