50 crusaders vs 50 samurai
who would win
Nigger, what timeline.
What nation do the Crusaders hail from?
Like...
Age of Empires 2 already answered that

That depends entirely what time period, what terrain, and what weapons are allowed.
Samurai had fucking guns m8.
Im assuming you're talking about generic knightly crusaders vs generic noguns samurai. Probably crusaders since they had better armor and probably better experience.
>>1797754
How about a guy from /his/ with a shield vs a guy from /a/ with a katana?
>>1797754
>The eternal 4chan contrarianism
i think he means the meme normie samurai and the meme normie germano-frankish bucket helmet knight. Its still a shit thread tho
Both are pretty well armored and have good weapons, both have swordmanship and zeal so they are pretty well matched.
If the katana is able to penetrate the chainmail, then is probable that the samurai may win since it would be more agile due to lighter armour (only metal plates over leather on torso)
If the katana is not able to penetrate the chainmail at once, then the knight may win due to pure blunt force of the sword. The shield would also help him quite a lot
The samurai got btfo by Portuguese rapiers so I would go for the crusaders
>>1797774
this also, the standard samurai almost never saw battle unless it was against rebels, bandits or other samurai.
The crusader knight fought the multiethnic muslim hordes
>>1797776
I'm willing to bet that despite the weapons disadvantage, the guy from /his/ takes this since he is probably in better shape.
>>1797778
The shield would be a large factor, and Katana cannot pierce steel armor especially folded.
>crusaders
>>1797784
crusades also happened against
>>1797774
This. The katana is primarily a cutting weapon. A stereotypical crusader would have a shield and mail armor that a katana wouldn't be able to cut through.

lol crusader heavy cavalry would have a field day

No most people from /his/ dual browse /fit/ or /pol/ it seems.
>>1797807
The katana wasn't the samurai's main weapon though.

What was it?
>>1797837
Depends on the time period but the average idea of the samurai mainly used spears

more like right wing version of nu-males
>>1797834

probably the knight, because samurai armor would be just fucked, and also samurai were like 5'3"
>>1797807
Katana were used to probe gaps in armor, when they were used on the battlefield at all. If you've ever had a chance to see japanese armor up close you would know that no sword could ever cut through even the weak looking parts.
Despite being curved the katana is actually very good at probing the gaps in east Asian armor, and is a decent stabbing weapon.

Bows, then spears later on. add a lot of other pole arms into the mix.

>the sword. The shield would also help him quite a lot

It won't
>then is probable that the samurai may win since it would be more agile due to lighter armour
Japanese armor was no lighter than western European armor, and tended to be slightly heavier.
>>1797869
The katana is allowed to flex where the other sword is held rigid at both ends. Look at the fixed sword and how the impulse travels away from the impact, and then breaks when the reflections meet in the middle. The constructive interference is what breaks the sword. The same thing would happen if you hit the fixed sword with a piece of iron bar.

The Crusades went from 1100 to the 1270's
The Samurai existed from about 1200 until 1850
The archetypical samurai army is the late Sengoku one. They had late 16th century firearms technology, experienced military generals, etc. They would crush a Crusader army due to their technological edge.
So, we are talking about people that existed in different time frames.
And there is very little good information about how the Samurai armies from 1200-1270 really were. While they talk about how weak they were, they won every damn battle against the Mongols in the 2nd Invasion.

probably the samurai because EVERY samurai was a horsearcher.
I like how everybody focuses on the fucking katana, while samurai used naginata and yari in battlr and only thr katana if they lost their horse or their main weapon.
>>1800648
No, the samurai wins thanks to its unique unit bonus. Teut knight beats all other infantry, however.
>>1800800
Crusaders often defeated constantly turkic horse archers while outnumbered.
>>1800800
>probably the samurai because EVERY samurai was a horsearcher.
Not really, only like a fifth of them were typical horse archers (besides that's ridiculous to state they were horse archers but used naginata, it's either one or the other). A good deal of samurai were "poor" (ji samurai) for a warrior caste and those could only field a handful of soldiers, they typically went on foot with usually a naginata or a spear.
Poorest samurai even had some forms of syndicates.
>>1797808
Neither, they'd shake hands and enjoy farming together like good peasants
>>1797901
I'm pretty good at probing your mom, does that make me a decent stabbing weapon?
>>1797807
Katanas could cut a tank in two dumbas a crussader would be no match

A tank? Sure hope isis doesn't get any katanas
>>1800675
?
How the fuck is this even a contest? European Crusaders were stronger and taller than Nips, they had superior arms and armor, and their training could easily deal with two-handed retards who lack shields.
The only time a samurai can best a Crusader is during the 1500's when Japan adopted arqubuses.
