Did he deserve it?
>>1751363
deserve isn't a good word.
He received it for selfish reasons by selfish men who proclaimed selflessness.
It probably would've happened eventually anyways, considering just how much more popular he would've gotten after invading parthia.
>>1751370
>Implying he would've won against parthia
>wasn't a king
>>1751363
Alledgedly he knew it was coming but let it happen anyways because he had an illness that would've turned him into a groveling retard.
Pretty good show if true. He dies in godhood and people throw themselves in for his successor loli nephew.
Man Caesar was a such a perv. Apparently a mediocre commander as well and got by with his charm and presence.
>>1751392
>mediocre commander
10/10 made me reply, I'm fucking angry
>>1751395
Look at the past 50 years of Roman history. Yea it would've. It was only going to get worse.
>>1751395
yes, what the gracchi and sulla did irreversibly blemished future republican integrity.
>>1751416
>gracchi
i understand sulla, but why them? the land reform?
>>1751429
Their deaths set a precedent.
>>1751363
No, those men prevented Caesar from invading Parthia, would he have been successful Rome's greatest threat would have been removed and the empire might have existed to this day in some form.
>>1751429
Gracchi disregarded any form of tradition in the Roman institutions they were a part of, vetoing in a way veto's had never been used before damaged the Republic a lot.
>>1751388
>implying he wasn't well on his way to becoming king when he was assassinated
I'm no Optimate, but let's not delude ourselves into believing that Caesar was a friend to the republic.
>>1751591
>the empire might have existed to this day in some form
I'm all for speculation, but come on anon, that's a bit of a stretch don't you think?
>>1751591
Just like when Trajan conquered Parthia so the Empire still exists today.
>>1751591
huh, i didnt know about the veto thing, i guess i need a better roman history book
>>1752510
Oh of course, but Julius set up that crowning event where he denied it to try and ease tensions among those who thought he wanted to rule as a king.
It also helped to make him look humble. In reality that little stunt freaked the conservatives the fuck out.

No i'm very serious, had Persia been incorporated into the Roman empire, would have saved many wars and instability. Wars with Persia weakend both Rome and Persia a lot even ensuring Islamic armies could just take 2/3rds of remaining empire and Persia as a whole. I think that might have played out differently had Persia been conquered and incorporated 500 years earlier.
>>1751363
No.
He did nothnig wrong.
LONG LIVE TO CAESAR!
