The root to evil, mankind or religion?

Well this seems like a bait thread but fuck it. Man is free to pick his actions because he has free will , said actions can be good or evil.

Bam, fucking done mate. Religion has no action or will as it is not living, it is merely a collection of people striving towards their beliefs. Thus religion is not the cause of evil in the world as it has no free will but rather the will of the people that follow it. Man on the other hand has free will and can pick good or evil actions.

this is ridiculous. The fact that people can practice religion peacefully proves that it isn't religion that causes man to be evil. Sure some religious doctrine can excite people more easily than other things but it isn't religion per se, religion isn't a tangible thing.

Religions are meant to leave material-bodily hedonism, travels, concerts, foods, sex and so on, for a spiritual hedonism, through prayers for theists and mediation for atheists.
Plenty of material hedonist love to think of themselves as less hedonistic than they are, since it improves their hedonism in thinking that they are not animals...most people who claim to be religious are not all, it is just the way they are.

It really depends. You have religious people who understand the message, and you have religious people telling you what they heard from someone else.

Religion can be used for bad, oppression, and war, but it is not the source of evil. Religion is supposed to bring a person to God, but is now used to control other opinions about God. It is the people who use religion for lawlesness, rather than the lawlessness itself, because the "religion invented evil" meme, is only a meme, because the abstract term religion does not create evil, the evil person who uses religion to create evil, creates the evil.

Mankind's active seperation from "religion" has a good side (trust in the self) and a bad side (loses all information about God in every Holy Book).
