How does Paris BTFO every other city in historical relevance, all while being comparatively small?

Not this again

Firstly, 4000BC-1900CE is a ridiculous timeframe. It's going to be skewed, favouring more recent history.

But Paris had one of medieval Europe's leading universities.
It's far north enough not to have been dominated by religion in the way much of southern Europe was.
After the French Revolution it attracted pioneers and progressive minds etc. Seriously, that image is way too distorted by the 19th century to take seriously.
>>

wut
>>
Its what happens when you make the rest of the cities in the cunt your personal bitches.

>It's far north enough not to have been dominated by religion in the way much of southern Europe was.
What does being North have to do with religion?
>>
>>1718392
because paris is the only city in france, whereas the rest of europe has lots of cities so the population is spread across more

(a result of the holy roman empire really, since you had lots of cities that wanted to be like paris, but the rest of france would generally just channel into paris rather than be their own paris)
>>
>>1718429
But there are plenty of cities in France, and like it says in the OP the population of Paris was always relatively small so it's not about that.
>>
>>1718424
Removed from Catholicism and the dogmas attached. Should've said North West but you get the idea.
>>
>>1718450
lel how the fuck was Paris removed from Catholicism, it was the most Catholic city in the most Catholic country.
>>
>>1718460
And this is exactly why it was so successful.
>>
>>1718450
Oh, you're one of those "Christian dark ages" fedoras.

Because of reasons which fit my biases

All that cheese actually made them supergeniuses.

Oldest most important city of Western civilisation. Capital of the oldest most important country.

Size alone doesn't make cities relevant, it's about the culture and institutions they concentrate.

Of Western, not Classical, civilization.

Literally who until the 18th century, only became more relevant than Paris after both were surpassed by New York.

Gee sorry it doesn't include Justin Bieber and Black Science Man.

Seems to me that Paris just sucks everything from the rest of France. Their whole culture revolves around that city. Whereas I can name dozens of cities in the UK and Germany all I can name in France is Paris and Maybe a few others.

Sure, it is a federation after all.
>UK
Really? UK is much more centered around London than France is Paris. France has more distinctive regional cultures than the UK and the North-South divide is much more apparent.

I think you've just paid more attention to Anglo history and events so you know cities better.
>>
>>1721715
That's obviously your cultural bias. The only relevant city in the UK is London, the other cities are even less relevant than other French cities.

Germany is a little different since it doesn't have any major cities at all, all of them are local.
>>
If this was based on main place of residence instead of place of birth, Paris would take up half the graph in every area.
>>
>>1721715
this is mostly accurate, a comparison of second cities would prove your post.

Is this why all those African "Doctors and Engineers" flock to Paris?

>Rome is not the birther of western civilisation and civilisation in general. The nation that spread the values and teachings of the Greeks across Europe, which would later spead them around the world.
>>
>>1723814
Then why isn't it Greece since it came before? Or Egypt or Mesopotamia? Or prehistoric niggers? Clearly it was monkeys that founded Western civilisation.
>>
>>1723762
No it wouldn't. Lyon clearly fairs better than any non-London British city, and probably better than any single German city.
>>
>>1723835

If you use your homosexual logic then the Frankish Empire didn't found western civilisation either you gay boy.

Rome is most deserving of the title since it spread those values. Without Rome the legacy of Greece would be gathering dust in some Persian library.

Plus Greece is not as cool as Rome so fuck you.
>>
Paris is literally France, no other country is concentrated so much in its capital.
>>
>>1723868
We aren't ancient Romans. Greco-Roman civilisation collapsed almost two millennia ago, followed by centuries of no civilisation in the West. Western civilisation was born around the 10th century. It's no more connected to the ancient dead Greco-Roman civilisation than the Muslims are, regardless of the delusions of cosplaying Renaissance Italians who were butthurt at their peninsula no longer being the centre of the world.
>>
>>1723896
Then the question is how did Paris manage to take over the largest most relevant piece of territory in Europe?
>>
>>1723896
Except for England, Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Portugal, Austria, Hungary, Czechia, Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Latvia, Estonia, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, and tons of other countries.
>>
>>1723801
Well, their doctorate mean shit if not from a occidental univercity. I heard of affricain doctor being taken as intern.
