Why did men's mainstream fashion go from normal suits before

How are men's suits not "normal" now? What is normal?

How hard is it to go to shorpy.com and look at early 20th century photos of city centers where EVERY man is wearing a suit

t shirts and jeans go back a lot further than you think. As much as the 1940s/1950s is heralded as the height of the suit era it was very common to run around in polo shirt and shorts.

There's an element of culture to it really OP, the reason the 70s goes wacky and wild is for the same reason "100% Polyester" is touted as a good thing at the top of the ad, whilst it'd be considered the opposite nowadays. New was good, vibrant and unusual was good.

As to why no one wears 'leisure suits' anymore, I couldn't really say honestly.
