Why were these things even built again?
Why do people not use the catalog again?

You mean WW1 era battleships?
Do you see those cannons?
In an age where planes could barely carry simple machine guns, parking this ship near a coastral city would mean you own the city.
>tfw battleships became obsolete within a generation
The concept looked good on paper.

It's not fair

>parking this ship near a coastral city would mean you own the city.
No it would mean you lost your battleship/battlecruiser that cost exponentially more than whatever few buildings you destroyed.

You obviously dont park it on a fucking mine. You can bombard enemy artillary all day long while they cant do shit to you because you can move whenever you are in danger.
Only way to defend against a ship like this is either mines or a bigger ship, and at the time this was made there was no bigger ship.

Because bigger guns = longer range + more damage dealt with the first volley. Basically, when the only weapon used is naval artillery, the guy with the biggest stick wins, provided everyone has fuel and ammo. Battleships and battlecruisers became obsolete because aircraft with bombs and torpedoes drastically outrange its cannons while equaling their destructive power, meaning that aircraft carriers are both better at dominating the sea and providing fire support to ground forces.
To kill

This anon gets it

You clearly don't understand anything about naval warfare. Ship artillery cannot outduel coastal artillery. Coastal artillery is more accurate, it's pre-sighted, it has a much smaller profile, it can be hidden. Ships never dueled coastal artillery without having overwhelming advantage first.

Maybe if they got overpowered shield and is piloted by a qt girl.

You're a fucking idiot if you can't see the difference between a blockade and "You can bombard enemy artillary all day long while they cant do shit to you because you can move whenever you are in danger."
The former works, the latter means your ships are going to get sunk pretty quickly.

A "blockade" just means you prevent ships from leaving.
Blame this magnificent asshole
