Obviously there's more, it's just too obscure to be on wikipedia. Marx became dominant, because the USSR and satellites claim to base their ideology on Marxism. Marxism became synonymous with communism. The USSR wanted to justify their state with the idea that they were the only true communism. The USA wanted to vilify all socialist and worker's movements by conflating them with USSR style communism.
