So a while back I found out my mother's grandmother was a Picard. Would it be a valid move to change my surname to Picard or does that go against traditional naming conventions and the like for a man to take his maternal great grandmother's maiden name because he thinks his current one it shit?
Also post heraldry and crests and the like. That's historical right?

Bump?

Heraldry is yet one more disgusting remnant of aristocratic society. The idea and imposed system that one is better than others on virtue of birth and not on virtue of merit is despicable.

If you think it's based on Star Trek, I hate that crap. I just want Heraldry and a better last name.

what's your current surname OP?

Lol, that coat of arms is a product of that one shitty website that has fake coat of arms for fucking every family name.
Even I have one and my surname is bloody Chinese.

Christopherson.

>I'm a noble because my maternal great-grandmother was one
If the links of nobility extended themselves that far, then everyone would be a noble.

I've always wondered this. How did the noble families control their size? Did they just tell lines to fuck off or is everyone just a part of a cadet branch?

Picard just means you are from Picardy.
