Represntation of feathered helmets very close to theirs have been found in Cyprus and I think in Crete too.

Some scholars have associated them with the lost Pelasgi tribes of the Greek myths and early historians.

They were known by the Egyptians as Peleset and were recorded to have invaded Egypt with other sea people groups but failed and were settled then in what would be Palestine by the Egyptian themselves as concession, more or less how it happened for the Vikings who were given lands in Normandy after failing to invade Frankia.

Also it's interesting to note that the weapons that most of these people often used were Italic and/or Central European, either way many sea peoples seem to be associated with the urnfield culture.

Their ships, with two bird heads, is really similar to the solar boat symbol of the Urnfield people.

All this makes the mystery of the sea people even more intriguing, after centuries of debates their identity is still almost completely obscure.

We may never know it, truly the greatest mystery in ancient history.

They came from the Aegean, but they could have been Achaians, Nuragics, Pelasgians (read: pre-IE inhabitants of Greece) and so on, but to say that they were "Greeks" is like saying that the Yayoi were Koreans.
