Tell me why this guy is evil
>evil
Do I need to say it?
Anyway, he's controversial because of shit like encomienda and his generally brutal treatment of natives. A lot of people grew up in school with him just being "that guy who discovered america" and then they find out all the cuntish things he did and it surprises them, so they feel a bit deceived.
>A recently discovered report by Bobadilla alleges that Columbus regularly used torture and mutilation to govern Hispaniola. The 48-page report, found in 2006 in the state archive in the Spanish city of Valladolid, contains testimonies from 23 people, including both enemies and supporters of Columbus, about the treatment of colonial subjects by Columbus and his brothers during his seven-year rule.[79]
>According to the report, Columbus once punished a man found guilty of stealing corn by having his ears and nose cut off and then selling him into slavery. Testimony recorded in the report claims that Columbus congratulated his brother Bartolomé on "defending the family" when the latter ordered a woman paraded naked through the streets and then had her tongue cut out for suggesting that Columbus was of lowly birth.[79] The document also describes how Columbus put down native unrest and revolt; he first ordered a brutal crackdown in which many natives were killed and then paraded their dismembered bodies through the streets in an attempt to discourage further rebellion.[80] "Columbus's government was characterised by a form of tyranny," Consuelo Varela, a Spanish historian who has seen the document, told journalists.[79] "Even those who loved him [Columbus] had to admit the atrocities that had taken place."[79]
He was a savage tyrant even by medieval spanish standards. Bartolomé de las Casas was so horrified by the treatment of the natives in Hispaniola by Columbus son that he became a friar.

De las Casas was a well know liar. Even other friars told him he was exaggerating the facts.

That's not very good supporting evidence for your case. Other friars saying he was a liar doesn't make him so.
Where's that one where he brags about enslaving 9 and 10 yr old girls as sex slaves and how it's a big hit on demand?

Hispanics claim he exaggerated cause it triggers them and they call it the black legend. Exaggerating was common back then, yes, but he is not the only one who mentioned this kind of stuff happening. So there's probably more truth to what he wrote than supposed 'Anglo lies' and dindu nuffin attitude hispanics pretend.

Well played, but have you considered that "friar" and "liar" rhyme?
Checkmate.

The precursor of de las Casas was Montesinos, who was also a dominican friar. He was the one that convinved Ferdinand to put a stop to the mistreatment of the natives in Hispaniola after Columbus son expelled the dominicans.
