Now that I think about it, most "historians" I know who are bad at what they do aren't historians at all. It's obvious why they're no good, they have no training in historiography.

In terms of people with actual history degrees the only poor technical historian I can think of is Niall Ferguson. Absolutely baffles me that he graduated with a first. He does a lot of harm to his field.

It was always shit but even when they were producing hundreds of sensationalist documentaries about how the Nazis were secretly lizards or some such crap it was better
