If Napoleon had been successful in conquering Egypt, would he have crowned himself Pharaoh, on top of Emperor? Or is it just British propaganda?
>Europe saw it worthy to start several wars just because someone crowned himself with the iron crown
literally every person who has invaded Egypt and wasn't Muslim named himself Pharaoh.
So yes, most likely he would have.

This. Tbf, it's a stupid move to call yourself farao in muslim times. He's literally the example of final boss tier enemy in the Qur'an.
It makes for a great romantic title, and I don't think the Brits liked that.
I love how he just abandoned everything he had put in Egypt and got the fuck out.

You have to understand that it's due to Napoleon's invasion, his scholars' records and artifacts, and the resulting decipherment of that the perception of Egypt became anything more than 1) a weird civilization some Greeks described as pretty weird and idiots for worshipping animals or 2) standard ancient kingdom with a rather unfavorable testimony in the Bible. Neither would be a very favorable title at the time.
Assuming Champollion's work still gets done in due time if not sooner, perhaps one of Napoleon's more decadent successors might take it. I could see Napoleon himself occasionally adopting some Pharaonic imagery- but more in Europe than in Egypt, advertising the France's glorious scholarly triumph.
