I had explored more of Richard A Muller's books(The Unaccomodated Calvin and Christ and the Decree: Christology and Predestination in Reformed Theology from Calvin to Perkins) regarding Calvin's views of Predestination and his overall thought in context.

So far, I end up rather confused particularly when I went to take a read from these two essays

Both essays makes clear that Calvin believes in free will. But, the first by A.N.S Lane gives a more "libertarian" outlook(same with Muller). According to these two authors, Calvin is not a determinist.

The second labels Calvin as a compatabilist with respects to free will.

I hope the former Reformed guy can explain this better.

So far all I got is,
a)Calvin does believe in some sort of free will
b)He does appropriate elements of Medieval Catholic scholasticism
c)God decrees but on a human level, we have free will.

My knowledge isn't perfect and I certainly haven't finished reading both books by Muller. But I hope someone with a good background in Reformed theology can chime in on the matter

No matter what. Christianity is not compatible with being a libertarian.

You can try to spin it all your want, but doing economic actions out of self interest will not get you into heaven.

Bait? By "libertarian" OP obviously means the metaphysical sense, the incompatibilist position that humans have free will and determinism is false.
