Race doesn't mean shit - maybe culture does, but historically, the descendants of immigrants to the U.S. have always embraced Anglo-American culture far more than that of their ancestors. Growing up in Texas, most third-generation Hispanics I knew could barely speak Spanish. Also, Hispanics are usually around ~50% European, and I wouldn't call that "non-white".
