Was Achilles gay?

No. Fucking Patroclus' boy pussy didn't make him gay. He was an erastes and Patroclus was his eromenos.
I'm sure he was. Diomedes was way more of a badass.

Diomedes is the hardest motherfucker in the Iliad.
>despite being a literally who background character for much of the poem has a full on aristeia where he smashes the enemy
>longest battle frenzy in the entire poem, longer even than Achilleus' own
>starts climbing the walls of Troy
>the gods literally shit themselves at the idea of this fag breaking fate and taking Troy early
>not even a demi-god
>has a flamethrower built into his helmet
>given the ability to see the gods themselves by Athena
>almost kills Aeneas himself, the father of Troy, before he is rescued by Aphrodite
>actually straight up fucking wounds Aphrodite, a goddess considered the only one more powerful than Zeus in the Iliad itself by cutting her hand
>picks a fight with motherfucking Apollo but then wisely backs off and is told not to try fucking with Troy's destiny
>instead tosses a javelin at Ares, the god of war and destroys his avatar on the field of battle
>only stopped from continuing his slaughter of the Trojans by respecting the age old Greek custom of giving and receiving gifts
>still manages to pull a fast one and swaps some shitty bronze armour for Glaucus' expensive gold set
Can anyone even get close?

>has a flamethrower built into his helmet
Wat
I must have missed that part. When was this?

Achilles and Patroclus are either supposed to be the same age, or Patroclus is considered a little older. But they were both adult men when they became lovers, which is an odd but unique part of the Mythology, as it wasn't normal for two guys the same age to be lovers.

New to the conversation, but it's weirder than that, actually. Remember, the Eromenos/Erastes relationship is supposed to be an offshoot of the mentor/student relationship. Sexual contact is one of the things that the older, wiser, more experienced male teaches the younger one.
Achilles is simultaneously younger but also more smart, skilled, powerful, manly, etc. than Patrokles, and when they interact, it's always Patrokles who is losing his nerve and weeping about the misfortune of the Achaeans while Akhilles tells him to man up. It's probably supposed to be another sign of Akhilles's importance and exceptionalism.

>>1658604

Ajax the greater. Considered tied with Diomedes but without needing divine support.
