Let's see,

- American Civil War Kepi, mostly intact with brass insignia still attached (5th Michigan Infantry, Company E)
- Lincoln campaign pin owned by my Great, Great, Great, Great Grandfater
- A 50 cent coin from 1861 owned by the same man
- Large tea chest allegedly from the Boston tea party, I cannot confirm or deny it's origin. Kept by my family
- Vietnam era M1 helmet with original cover, has a number of custom markings and a literal coon tail stapled to it
- Soviet Cold War Ushanka, including cockade pin
- Old Cold War commie block gas mask, not sure what model or country
- M91/30 Mosin from 1941, all numbers match and the rifle is in near unused condition, includes period correct Red Army cleaning kit and manual
- SMLE Mk. III*, Lithgow production, with original sling and cleaning kit, no Bayonet unfortunately
- Several old knick-knacks from India, my Step-Mom gave them to me years ago. Probably fakes, but they look nice and old (includes an ornate snuff box, mossy soapstone elephant statue, and a stone buddha statue)
- A number of pre-EU European coins
- A piece of wood from the deck of the USS Iowa
- US flag flown over an unspecified base in Korea, given to me by a Korea vet

And I think that's it. I have some other small things lying around not worth mentioning. Most of this stuff is kept in atmosphere controlled display cabinet in my home office. Makes for a good conversation starter.

String of coins, mostly from Qian Long and his dad, Yong Zheng, but I saw a few from Kang Xi emperor as well.

I'm also the keeper of our family registry that was written around Dao Guang or Xian Feng era
>>
- Morgan silver dollar
- Trapdoor Snider conversion 1860s Enfield rifle. Unfortunately it was "sporterized", which seriously reduces the value. It's also in pretty shit condition.
- A painting by some Austrian guy from the 1850s
- Coins from Nazi occupied France
- A partially burned Reichmark
- Occupied Filipino yen note
- Grandpa's telegraph that he used during WW2
- Some letters from a great uncle who was in the navy during WW2 (he sent back the Reichmark and the Yen note)
- WW1 Doughboy helmet from the US army's 5th infantry division
- Some random milsurp shit like Soviet pins, an M1 helmet/m16 gasmask (dated 1962), and some other stuff you could easily find in a surplus store
>>
>>1658493

Rarity isn't a factor with Mosins. They're among the most mass-produced firearms in history.

Ubiquity is their draw. They've become a staple of armies, militias, and gun owners at various points since 1891. They've helped win wars and rebellions, they've been thrown down in the mud in defeat, they've been stashed in crawlspaces and attics, they've been proudly hung on walls.

They are, collectively, millions of connections to more than a century of war, bloodshed, despair, and glory, from all over the world. There's an ex-sniper model in the corner a few feet from my chair, which was manufactured in 1943. When I was cleaning the decades-old cosmoline off of it, I found a capital R carved into the stock. I'll never know who carved that letter, or what trials they faced with that gun in hand, but I can shoot and clean and care for the same piece of hardware they held in their hands.
>>
A gigantic German bible from the 1800s that's been in my family presumably since it was made. Sat on a pedestal in my great grandfather's foyer for about 50 years, now it's in a box in my living room and I have no idea how to properly care for or display it.

I have an old chalice that has something Masonic scribbled on it.

I got it from my Grandpa when he passed. The problem is that he wasn't in the Masons, but his father was.

His father came from Lebanon in the late 1800s.

That's about all I know of it.
>>

>omg so historical
Might as well say a random 9mm round is "historical" because lots of people have been killed by other 9mm rounds. A random mass produced firearm is about as "historical" as any other mass produced object.

I have some WW2 propaganda leaflets--the most interesting are the enemy's leaflets aimed at Allied troops.

This one compares the US reliance on technology and industrial might, but suggests that the German soldier one-for-one is better than the American soldier.

The weird wrinkly effect is because this example was actually distributed by a special mortar shell with a low-level explosive charge to blow the leaflets out.

I have a bin full of Natzi shit my grandfathers pludered. Helmets, officer's hats, daggers, arm bands, etc. I also have a harmonica that my great-great-grandfather bought his son (my great-grandfather) in Italy in the early 1900s before they immigrated to the US. My great grandfather went through all of WWI with it on him, and his son then went through WWII with it. It disappeared in the 60s or 70s, but when my grandmother died my mom found it in a drawer in her house and gave it to me.

Not really. I own a complete collection of Molière's play from 1770, a prayer book from the early 19th century with an ivory cover, a Japanese painted fan IIRC from the late 18th century, and a Buddha/bodhisattva statue from Indochina in stone covered with metal, though I don't know how old it is or where exactly it's from, just that one of my ancestors brought it back from there.

But I'm from an old noble family, and they've been collecting stuff for a while. The family collection has been divided up, sold, burned down, stolen, etc over time though, so it's not as impressive as it could have been. Even the family castle built in the 12th century has been sold to another branch of the family two centuries ago. A big part of what's remaining was bought by the guy who brought back the statue I own. He was a diplomat and spent like two third of his life in East Asia and the Middle East, and every time he would come back it with boatloads of stuff. Statues, clothing, folding screens, weapons, tapestry, carpets, books, everyday life items, etc. A lot of it was sold when he died, but my grandparents house is still full of the stuff. My favorite items when I was a kid were huge carved wood doors, kinda like pic related, but bigger, and a samurai armor that was in a glass case. They also have tons of stuff that piled over the centuries, late medieval armors, weapons, paintings, etc. And way more recent things, like African masks and modern art. But again, these things keep getting sold.

It's funny you say that. I actually have a box of ammo for it that is just as old as it is. Probably rarer than the gun itself. My grandfather loved his plunder. The man had an entire room in his house full of guns and trophies. I was most impressed with his wall of german dress daggers. I didn't inherit any of them, and my knives I've collected myself. Most of the valuable stuff got left to my uncle, who clucked all of it.

My dad's military leave jacket with corporal insignia still sewed on it+flag of his battalion (Fanteria Battaglione Cuneo)
Dad's 80s "mobile phone" which is the size, shape and weight of a brick
Grandpa's war medal
Grandpa's concentration camp ID (someplace in Austria)

A German helmet, black, kinda big. Repainted but looks old, purchased in flea market
An Italian helmet, olive green, dented and with leather padding still inside. Gift to my dad from a friend who used to go on mountain trenches to look for stuff.
A curved knife of the kind Arabs give to their sons as a mark of adulthood or something, very ornate, sneaked out of Tunisia by great uncle, date unknown.
