To be fair, Constantinople actually wasn't fairly taken away. (((Somebody))) left a kerkaporta open for the Turks to just walk right in.
So this MS-Paint comic is rather in poor taste as it doesn't consider what would've happened if the Turks were sealed off everywhere.

Is this really a "they cheated it doesn't count" accusation? Are you suggesting that European conquests were always taken fair and square and that there wasn't any sort of underhandedness?
Also
>as it doesn't consider what would've happened if the Turks were sealed off everywhere.
What? This is basically saying "Your image about muslim conquest is in poor taste because it doesn't take into account a hypothetical scenario where there wasn't a Muslim conquest."
It doesn't consider what would've happened if the Europeans were sealed off everywhere either.

What the fuck is a fair siege? Sieges were regularly resolved by standing outside until the inhabitants surrendered or died of starvation and disease. The word literally stems from a Latin root word "to sit". As far as """""fair sieges""""" go "someone opened the door and then we assaulted the city" is actually pretty good.
>Yeah I don't rly care for your other critical remarks.

kek this post is way too long:
Henry George was an economist from the late 1800s. When he was alive, he was regarded the third most famous American after Mark Twain and Thomas Edison.
Many famous men such as Leo Tolstoy, FDR, Churchill, Teddy Roosevelt, Sun Yat-Sen, and Albert Einstein lauded George as brilliant. His only critic was Karl Marx.
The introduction of the Secret Ballet and the game of Monopoly were both inspired by Henry George's writings and when he died well over 100,000 people came to mourn.
Yet, now he's forgotten and his most important policy proposal (The Land Value Tax) is ignored despite most prominent economists such as Milton Friedman acknowledging as the most efficient tax.
TL;DR
He's a brilliant economist who's policy proposals are not implemented despite being widely acknowledged as good

>>1654919
What argument? You invented a hypothetical scenario without evidence and people called you an idiot.
>>1654916
Not really, if that actually happened the Westerners would've prevailed since Mehmed sent all of his troops to attack the walls and was left with only 12,000 janissaries after every attack was repulsed.
This was the final wave of Turks, after the Westerners had cut everyone down.
By this time, a kerkaporta had opened up, these 12,000 came in quite easily in full force and swamped the defenders.
So yes, it would've been quite a different scenario if it had gone the non-espionage way, my "unbiased" friend.

War isn't fair, the entire idea of it is using violence to get your way unilaterally. A "fair" war is one not fought at all, but if we were going to say a battle had to be waged, the only "fair" result would be if both sides were equal in numbers, equipment, etc on flat terrain.

>land, unlike labour and capital, does not tend towards a market price equal to the cost of production, becuase there is no cost of production
>where a good's price does not equal the cost of production (including opprutunity cost) there is exessive profits to the seller of the good and a deadweight loss to society as a whole,as demonstrated in the graphs pictured
>this cost to non, owners of land and deadweight loss is the root cuase of increasing poverty among areas experiencing economic growth. land value increases, rent climbs, rich get richer, poor get poorer
>the solution, becuase land is a natrual monopoly, is to have all land be formally owner by the public (typically, though not nessesarly through the state)
>private use of land would require renting it from the public, and the funds would be distrubuted among each individual equally, a representation of equal right to unproduced goods
>this does not violate free market principals becuase in them, the right to property is an extension of self ownership. you put a piece of your time and effort into something, and decide what to do with it. but this cannot apply to unproduced goods.
>in fact one should look at the ownership of any land as an externality, since it reduces the opportunities of a person, thus not internalizing this externality makes the market LESS free, not more
>imagine if all unproduced goods were priavately owned. it started with land, and increasingly, we have people trying to monopolize and sell clean water
>the logical conclusion is private ownership of air. why should a person be any more entitled to land or water than air when they made neither?
