Harriet Tubman is such a meme historical person. She's utterly irrelevant but she makes a nice little narrative to teach kids. She's also something of a blank slate in terms of personal writings so with no inconvenient facts she can be molded & mythologized in any direction. Kind of like Helen Keller now that I think about it (Though with Keller, we just ignore that she was an avowed socialist because we only care about the part of her life where he learns to read & write and ironically not how she uses those abilities).
