Examples of people throughout history who were born poor or incredibly mediocre who rose to become Kings, Emperors or leaders of nations or even so influential that they practically ruled government like a statesman?

The House of Tancred de Hauteville.

>Basil I, called the Macedonian (Greek: Βασίλειος ὁ Μαkεδών, Basíleios ō Makedṓn; 811 – August 29, 886) was a Byzantine Emperor who reigned from 867 to 886. Born a simple peasant in the Byzantine theme of Macedonia, he rose in the Imperial court, and usurped the Imperial throne from Emperor Michael III (r. 842–867). Despite his humble origins, he showed great ability in running the affairs of state, leading to a revival of Imperial power and a renaissance of Byzantine art. He was perceived by the Byzantines as one of their greatest emperors, and the Macedonian dynasty, which he founded, ruled over what is regarded as the most glorious and prosperous era of the Byzantine Empire.

Liu Bang.
>Liu Bang was born in a peasant family in Zhongyang Village (中陽里), Feng Town (豐邑), Pei County (沛郡), which is in present-day Feng County, Xuzhou, Jiangsu. His parents' names were not recorded in history

>The young Liu Bang was outspoken, charismatic, and of great forbearance and tolerance. However, he enjoyed loafing, disliked reading, and showed no interest in farming, hence his father often called him a "little rascal". Liu Bang persisted in his idling ways and depended on his brother's family for food and lodging.
He then proceeded to become the first emperor of the Han dynasty, which lasted over four centuries.

The Chinese's dominant ethnic group and writing are named after said dynasty.

Sargon of Akkad
>Primary sources pertaining to Sargon are very sparse; the main near-contemporary reference is that in the various versions of the Sumerian king list. Here, Sargon is mentioned as the son of a gardener, former cup-bearer of Ur-Zababa of Kish. He usurped the kingship from Lugal-zage-si of Uruk and took it to his own city of Agade.

Speaking of Han, you just reminded me of Liu Bei too. Liu Bei was a distant scion of the Han Dynasty whose branch of the family fell into poverty, and he lived as a shoemaker and eventually became emperor.

>Ivaylo, also spelled Ivailo, (Bulgarian: Ивaйлo), nicknamed Bardokva ("radish" or "lettuce" in Bulgarian) or Lakhanas (Λαχανᾶς, "cabbage") in Greek, was a rebel leader and emperor (Tsar) of Bulgaria.[1] In 1277, he spearheaded a peasant uprising and forced the nobles to accept him as emperor. He reigned as emperor from 1278 to 1279, scoring victories against the Byzantines and the Mongols, but beset by foreign and domestic enemies, which included the Bulgarian nobility, he was forced into exile among the Mongols, where he presented himself as a dethroned vassal.

China's two great dynasties, the Han and the Ming, were founded by literal plebs.

Well, the Ming was (Zhu Yuanzhang, the Hongwu Emperor). Han's Liu Bang was beyond pleb: he was fucking bandit.

How come none has mentioned Temujin or Nader Shah?
Granted, genghis' father was somewhat of a tribe chief, but his son inherited nothing of it upon his murder.
Nader was quite literally a paesant who rose to become emperor of Persia:
"Nader Shah was born in the fortress of Dastgerd[2] into the Oghuz-Turkish Qirqlu clan of the Afshars, a semi-nomadic Qizilbash tribe settled in the northern valleys of Khorasan, a province in the north-east of the Persian Empire.[17] His father, Emam Qoli, was a herdsman who may also have been a coat maker.[18]"
