1. Use the hook part to lock the enemies weapon
2. Bash them with your shield
3. Stab them with the pointy edge

Or just bash their limbs

Start high and swing down.

Protip:
Hooking is massively overrated.

That picture is of a hatchet which would not have been used in combat.

A Dane Axe has a much longer haft.

You drop it and pick up a spear

Hit them in the back of the head from behind or somehow get in close with getting speared in the guts or pushed away by a shield then swing it at the head/neck region.
