I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Slavs, is in fact, Wends and Slavs, or as I've recently taken to calling it, masterrace and slavshits. Slavs are not an ethnic group unto itself, but merely a linguistic group made useful by based Wends, a vital group thanks to which Europe exists.

They can't even into geopolitics - Russia still pretends it's 19th century and the best way for the state to succeed is to be egoistic, xenophobic, expansive, imperialistic, overly-nationalistic and authoritarian. Russia is the true cancer of humanity and I sincerely hope it breaks apart as soon as possible.

The state of Rus came into being when the Varangians (aka "vikings") settled into slavic lands as rulers instead of just enslaving the slavs and selling them to the muslims and byzantines. "Russian" became a thing from the intermingling of the different groups of the region: Scandinavians, Slavonic tribes such as the Cossacks, Finns, Khazars, Turks and a pinch of Mongol.
