just stick to one of them

>Daddy, today Mr. Goldstein's class we learned about how to write historical dates. For dates that are older than two thousand years we write "B.C.E" which stands for before common era and for newer dates we just write C.E. which stands for common era. But I was confused because I asked Mr. Goldstein what happened two thousand years ago that made it switch from BCE to CE and he just got really upset and didn't want to talk about and told me he'd give me detention if I kept asking dumb questions. Why did he react like that daddy? What happened two thousand years ago that made it change from BCE to CE?
