>Was Atlantis real?
Probably not
>Where was it located?
Probably the Atlantic
Was there once a city above water which sunk and we simply do not know it's location?
Very plausible.
Probably a Finnish colony
Plato, the only actual source of the Atlantis story, locates it beyond "The Pillars of Hercules," which was the ancient name for the Straits of Gibraltar.
Thus the most likely candidate for Atlantis, if it ever existed, is somewhere around the Azores islands, the only real actual islands around that part of the Atlantic.
>Was Atlantis real?
No. There's no indication Plato meant the story to be taken as fact, and the vast majority of people throughout history never took it seriously until the late 19th century.
>Where was it located?
If it has to be assigned a historical location, Santorini is the option that makes the most sense. But it's all meaningless conjecture anyway.
