Was Tricky Dick such a bad guy?

As a person? Maybe. As a President he was really fucking competent.

No, he wasn't the worst but wasn't really good either
War on drugs was one of his biggest mistakes
He went from commie-buster to realpolik in like a decade, which was actually the smart move given the end of the soviet union had already started by the time he was in office. If he had just ended Vietnam in his first term (which he had said would require declaring victory and leaving years before the 1968 election) then he would have been better remembered.
Trading on the early vietnam pullout probably would have meant watergate might not have blown up like it did, and movement conservative retards like Reagan might not have gotten to take over the party.

I like this new meme that one of our most unethical presidents was also highly efficient.
If that were remotely true he wouldn't have derailed the Paris peace talks by convincing South Vietnam to reject any plan until after Nixon (barely) won the 1968 election. Which of course once he won, he then let the war drag on for another 5 bloody years (more Americans dying under Nixon than under LBJ and JFK combined) before the US and SV had to settle on a worse peace treaty than the one NV offered in 1968.
This new Nixon worship should scare anyone who has even a passing understanding of history.

He was based as fuck and the only good modern president.
