individualist societies work because the needs of individuals being met correlates quite directly with a society's ability. the issues arise when the individual and the collective are seen in opposition. if you can't get them to agree then your shit's fucked no matter what. is it better to amputate a limb or die of necrosis? sure, one is probably better than the other, but you should really be asking yourself why you are in that situation.
