Frankly, they were always pricks.

So were all of their neighbors.

The idea of Israel going from being the underdog to being an abusive hegemon ignores how crap their behavior was when they were still an underdog.

Palestinians deserve it though.

He's being a little easy on them. Israel was never "abused". They were a bunch of immigrants who won territorial wars, and from then on kept trying to expand. As the only nuclear power of the region they command insane reverence even from countries who are unhappy with their existence. The core of Israel-Iran nuclear theater is obvious: one country who wants imperial peace, and another who wants balance of power. They were never children: they were always aggressive immigrants.

Just as holocaust victims aren't honored but pitied, a consistent person feels toward the Palestinians. Toward their neighbors, they have no moral superiority or inferiority - only a superiority of power.
