Because if you're busy being almost constantly pregant for years at a time it's not really sensible to go out fighting battles and doing demanding physical labor and whatnot, makes more sense to get a non-pregrant and generally physically stronger person/group of people to protect you. When a man sees a threat and tells the woman to shut the fuck up so they can remain undetected, if she doesn't shut her hole, then that threat could hear her, and attack and kill the man, and the entire family. If a man tells a woman to follow him because the path he takes will keep the family safe, that bitch better follow, or she's likely to put the family at risk.

Even to this day, men are responsible for security, and this is why a bitch needs to learn to do what the fuck her man says, less she put the family at risk. What's fucked up these days is that often times the "man" of the family is the poor bastard teenaged son of a bitch that decides it's fine to get pregnant without a dedicated father.
