We are, as on my subject, in a time in which we talk a lot about rape but probably do it much less than before.
Which period was plagued by rape the most ? How common was it ? Did only low soldiers raped or even princes and kings did it ? How young was too young to be raped ?
How did the wife at home reacted when the soldier husband came back with a teenage sex slave ?

Ancient marriages weren't really done out of love though, but for money reasons. And there are things called concubines senpai.

Ancient Greeks would go on raids and steal the women from other cities/towns
In fact, part of the main conflict of the Iliad is over who owns which stolen girl

>implying common marriages were done for the same reasons as marriages among nobility
Rape is a social construct. The idea was invented by the patriarchy, which viewed a woman's virginity as the property of her father.
The idea of a roastie getting "raped" by Chad at college being an affront against her virtue is laughable.

As opposed to what?

I think the question is more when did people began to care about it or view it as worse than dead. It's really essentially sexist, I've even thought if a girlfriend or wife of mine was raped I think I'd be pretty disgusted by her to be honest. It's just assault plus forced sex until you factor in concepts of purity, and fidelity

>That scene from Book II where Nestor threatens to shame the Achaians from going home unless they commit mass rape against the Trojan women
