Sup, /his/.
Can anyone recommend me some good books to introduce me to Islam?
I've been interested in the subject for a while, and what with the rising hubbub that surrounds the topic today I figured now's the time to get some actual knowledge in me.
I have a basic awareness of Islam, mainly from a modern political perspective but very little understanding of it as a religion, nor of its origins.
Would like to read and understand the history of its formation as a religion, and also understand the basic underlying philosophy and tenets of the religion.
Not looking to convert, nor am I ideologically motivated in my search, just want to understand it.
nothing?
Here you go buddy

If you're looking for history of the Arabian people who follow the religion, I suggest "A History of the Arab peoples" by Albert Hourani.
one last bump before the thread dies
