Who is history's greatest monarch?
>>1474961
My dick
Does Augustus Caesar count as a monarch?
Charles V of the HRE, I of Spain.
>>1474961
Gengis Khan or Alexander of Macedon.
King Alfred the Great
Carlos II of Spain
Charlemagne
I will literally fight anyone who disagrees.
>>1474978
>holy
sacked rome
>roman
see above, also no
>empire
more like a dynastic tool for the habsburgs, who maintained the actual empire
>>1474961
Define what makes a monarch the "greatest" first.
>>1474978
didn't do much but had a heart of gold

Are you autistic?
What is the point of this post? Why did you even reply to that post with such trivial bullshit?
Stop memeing, you cunt.

You haven't defined or clarified what makes a monarch/ruler the greatest. Duration of their reign? Impact of their rule on their nation/empire/state/country when it comes to social issues, economic status and prosperity, military standing, etc...
Definite it, you moog.

The Sun King

this
>make paris the city of style, gastronomy, art, litteraly create the french touch and all the things France is known for
>create gorgeous monuments
The only part where if fucked up was war (which fucked up the economy of the country).

Charlemagne, Henri IV or Sun King
>>1475086
This exactly.
Charles V was a good man but not a good ruler. He also inherited his titles, did not win them and most of the conquest Spain did (Americas and colonisation overall) was with his permission but not with his command.
Spain succeeded for as long as it did despite its rulers, not because of them. Mainly military brilliance of commanders and quality of troops (Tercio best in Europe at the time of Charles V and would continue to be for next 100 years), the amazing success of conquistadores and organisation of fleets. The ruthlessness and effectiveness of local colonial governors also helped.
My vote would go to Claudius.
>ambitious to a perfect extent where it doesn't make him power-thirsty dick
>bullied throughout early years so developed a sensitive personality full of contempt
>reasonable

Suleiman the Magnificent
Augustus
Jesus Christ, who reigns over all of us in heaven forever.
Amen.

Based Charles V was too kind for its time.
He was the most powerful man in Europe, matched only arguably by the Ottoman Sultan.
Most monarchs would've gone in a warmongering frenzy and just finished uniting all of Europe if they had found themselves with the wealth and power Charles V had, and yet he was a ruler who only desired peace.
He did the best he could for his nation, his realm and Christendom, until he was so tired of the fighting he abdicated to spend the rest of his honorable life in a monastery.
May you rest in peace, Carlos.
Emperor Bokassa I, of course.
Would Sulla count? Because damn he was based.
>>1477561
Eeh mehmey was better actually.
>>1477601
He devoted himself to clockwork. And it wasn't exactly a monastic retreat.
>>1477630
Sulla wasn't a monarch, far from it.
Mehmet II the Conqueror
Daily reminder that Justinian revitalized a failing empire, reconquered most of Rome with it, and still had time for massive public works all whilst holding back multiple Persian invasions. And he would have gotten away with it too, were it not for that damned plague.
Alfred the Great
>fought off alien invaders
>initiated the unification of England
>promoted literacy and learning amongst all levels of society
>translated a number of philosophical and religious texts from Latin into English, the native tongue of the common man
>was a devout Christian
>>1477601
He wanted to unite Europe at the end of his reing. He even recommended Phillip to storm Paris and crown himself king of France.
>>1477761
He made a damn good effort but at the end of the day he is the man who lost the empire.
Gustav II Adolf is probably one of the most solid choices for Sweden. Internationally known for military innovations and victories, a generally successful general and king in war-time and he was a capable reformer and administrator. He also founded Sweden's second largest city, Gothenburg.
Gustav II Adolf and Karl X through XII were all pretty interesting people in their owns ways though. Fuck Christina.
