I'm Nordic, and I believe this is a Nordic symbol, as all the Elder Futhark and similar runes can be found in this pattern.
Specifically speaking though, although the diagram is an 8 pointed star not a 6 pointed star, the viewer can see 6 points, each 6 points has 4 groups of 4 tetrahedron, 6×4=24, and there's 24 Elder Furhark runes.
