why do catholics on /his/ still blame all the religious wars of 16th and 17th centuries on Martin Luther? Wasn't it the Holy Roman emperor prompted by the pope who started the wars most of the time?
>>1452698
There would have never been any prompt to start the wars in the first place if there weren't any widespread heresies.
>>1452698
I don't blame him for it. Some countries just wanted to get rid of Rome influence in their shit and used Luther's autism for it.
>>1452706
there wouldn't have been any widespread heresies had the church not become as corrupt as it did.
It's like claiming peasant rebellions are the fault of the peasants when they've had enough of heavy taxation and being treated like crap
>>1452698
>implying the Holy Roman emperor was a good goy and always listened to the pope
>>1452734
Well at least the emperors claimed to be "following the orders of pope and god" when they started the religious wars. Of course keeping the lands of the HRE under control was the main reason for their actions
>>1452738
No they didn't, Barbarossa and a pope fought over who should be supreme leader
>>1452760
wasn't one of the main reasons of the religious wars to fight against heresy and the pope completely agreed upon this?
We're talking about 16th and 17th centuries here
>>1453801
Also, iFunny?! Really?!

It's an autistic joke that has gone way too far

I chucked, but as a lingonerd, it always irks me when people randomly throw in archaic English for old timey effect but it's totally wrong.
have = first person (i)
has = third person singular (he/she/it)
hath = third person plural (they)
'hath' is not just some random Ye* Olde Fashionede form of 'have', but a specific conjugation of the verb. Of course, nowadays we just use 'have' in its place. It's similar with thee, thou/thoust and thine,
*A distinct kind of 'Y' was sometimes used as short form for 'th', so it also irks when it's read aloud as y as in yellow. Ye only meant a polite/formal form of plural you.
