Korea supposedly invented the woodblock printing press, which is a pretty big deal, though China is now claiming that they did it first. I think they also tried out moveable type, but didn't do so well with that. The woodblock printing press spread Buddhism even farther; China had many issues with Buddhism thanks to this (muh taxes). I think they had some cool turtle boat stuff in the 12th century too. Then they were occupied by the Mongols after resisting their influence pretty well for years, they fell. They later fell under Chinese influence (even more), then became a Japanese territory. The whole Cold War fiasco went down after being split by the USSR and the USA. Now half of Korea eats glue, and the other half has cars and kpop and stuff. Also, kimchi. Korea wasn't a huge part of history, but they helped spread Buddhism a lot, revolutionized printing, fought off the Mongol Hordes pretty well (ultimately failing), turtle boat shit, Japanese clay, made the cold war way more tense, and now is a decent country with a good economy and has some standing in the world (cultural influence, car manufacturing). Also, kimchi.

I'm Chinese and I hate that shit so fucking much, no offense to Koreans.

Pic related is what I think East Asians *should* go for as befitting their genetics, but Koreans had to come and fuck it all up. I'm happy that Korea is relevant today (despite each half being relevant for different reasons), but South Korea's success has come at a staggering cost. At the rate SK is going, plastic surgery will become a necessity to get into good schools or find well-paying jobs. Honestly, Japanese beauty standards are far more realistic. And don't get me wrong, I'm not saying China is any better. In fact, they could be worse as time goes on, but the fire started in South Korea.

I love Western civilization in general, but Western culture applied to East Asia is really just a disaster and has irreparably destroyed much of what made Asia unique. Asians take the worst aspects of capitalism, communism, and nationalism, apply them haphazardly with superficial success and they don't care about the long-term effects even worse than Westerners. It's all fucked up and I cringe when people only start noticing countries because they've become vapid consumer societies with no soul.
