Who had more influence on how we view the natural world today?
Everyone knows who Darwin is but I've never even heard of Haeckel so...

The guy who did this. He also proposed the idea that humans could be separated unto 12 distinct species. Many of his views were later turned into nazi propaganda.

I was merely stating that many of the ideas that people attribute to Darwin were actually derived from Haeckel. Also, the guy was a pretty good artist.

Haeckel is more well-known in Germany. I say Darwin is more influential. The theory of evolution is even popularly called "Darwinism", so...

But most people who try to say evolution influenced the nazis seem to allude to Haeckel more than Darwin.
Darwin thought we were all the same species, only differing primarily in culture and language. Haeckel believed that the modern races evolved from ape ancestors in a Lamarckian free-for-all, with certain languages, cultures, and physical traits surviving. Also, I think he mentioned Lemuria on a few occasions.
