Who was the greatest leader in the history of the world?
Also - who was the greatest leader of the past 300 years?
>>1401685
Under what criteria?
>>1401690
Virtue and contribution to humanity.
People can also just list different leaders for various categories as well.
>Who was the greatest leader in the history of the world?
Jesus. He founded God's own church, laying the foundations to a religion that would forever impact the everyday lives of everyone.
>Also - who was the greatest leader of the past 300 years?
Hitler, tied with Napoleon.
Napoleon's leadership made it possible to conquer a lot of land for the French, he was an unique individual, not the kind of guy you can just replace. Napoleonic era simply wouldn't have happened without him.
Hitler because he inspired a nation and a people. He was a nice idealist, a different kind of leader. I also think he's a bit cute.
Honorable mention to George Washington, but he wasn't that much important as a leader. 1776 would have happened even if he didn't exist. A leader can only be considered a leader if what happened wouldn't have happened without his presence.

>Also - who was the greatest leader of the past 300 years?
Napoleon is the only correct answer.
Alexander and by a wide margin.
How there can be any other answer?
>>1401999
The revolutionary war without Washington. The French joined the war because they were impressed by Washington's leadership. Also, Washington isn't considered great because he won the war, he is considered great because gave up power when he could have easily become a king.
>>1401685
Not even a question.
>>1401702
There is only one truly virtuous leader.
>>1401685
I can answer both of your questions with just one pic.
>>1401685
Hard to tell. My opinion is Augustus Caesar. Then Alexander, Muhammed, Jesus, and Genghis.
Past 300 years?
Napoleon by a large margin.
Caesar and Napoleon
You know it's true.

Grampus?
>>1402063
He looks so dumpy and crestfallen in that portrait.
>>1402079
>was only in power for about a decade
>failed miserably at everything he set out to achieve
>actions led to the total destruction of his political party and the near destruction of Germany
>great

Augustus was born into wealth and adopted by Caesar. Rome was already a regional powerhouse.
Genghis grew up an outcast from his own tribe. The mongols were a bunch of tribes sharing the steppes with numerous other groups.
>>1401999
Jesus is a shit leader, he literally failed and got killed. Thank apostles, Paul Especially, for spreading the message. Contrary to Jesus Moses managed to get his people out and managed to settle them, or Mohammad who literally took over cities from Pagans themselves.
I expect Christfaggotry but puhplease.

>couldn't win against the Greeks without German help

>United the steppe and fucked both Persia and China shut.
>Offspring went on to conquer most of Asia.

Jesuschrist came to revolutionize Judaism. Matthew 5:17
Jesus was meant to die as sacrifice
John 3:16
He supposedly succeeded in both.
The real issue here is that Jesus is not an historical figure in first place.
>>1402082
I agree, not even memeing.
>>1402824
>The real issue here is that Jesus is not an historical figure in first place.
There is such a thing as an historical Jesus, though. Multiple historic sources mention him sans-magic powers.
>>1402135
Lenin a shit, between the German gold, the execution of dissidents, the incompetence, the starvation, the war which was solely saved by Trotsky's leadership what is there to like about him?
>>1401685

>Jesus
Yeah man, I get that he had a huge impact on the world, but he was not a leader, just a pretty good preacher who got lucky. No actions of his led to the spread of christianity. Most credit should go to Peter & Paul
>>1401685
Hitler
>>1402559
He won the biggest civil war ever.
He brought Rome back from the brink of collapse.
He established the Roman Empire, a superpower that lasted 500 years.
He expanded Rome to the extent it kept stable for 400 years.
He chose wisely his successor and established a proper system of succession.
He worked with the senate and not against it.
He avoided getting assasinated for 74 years.
He cucked the Germans for the longest time.
He wouldn't consider himself the greatest though. Not by a longshot. And that's the biggest reason I consider him so.
Genghis was heavily connected to the most powerful tribe. His Empire lasted only a century at best. It brought only destruction to the world and ruined much of the Islamic world and China. Power != greatness.
>>1403119
He was a leader. His actions formed the largest religious community on earth. Maybe our criteria for "greatest" is different.
>>1401685
Greatest leader ever: Alexander
Last 300 years: Stalin
>>1402879
topkek!
>Russia pls spare me
>>1403454
Alexander couldn't be bother to name a successor and his empire immediately fractured as soon as he died. He was great general, but was a shit leader.
>>1403475
>he didn't name a successor
Has nothing to do with being a leader.
Leader =/= statesman.
>>1403523
Being a true leader incorporates all qualities of leadership INCLUDING being a statesman.
This man single handily resurrected the Roman empire form the death when it had been totally gone for hundreds of years.
>>1403555
>Restored Roman Empire
>Didn't even conquer Rome
Sure.
The closest thing to a "Restored Rome" is the Papal States.
>>1401685
2 years into Trump's presidency everyone will realize this.
>>1403579
forgot the picture.
>>1403539
>INCLUDING being a statesman
That's not a quality of leadership.
Leadership is how well you can use people to get shit done.

Washington is directlyresponsible for the events of 1776. Those taxes which derived from replenishing the British coffers after the 7 years war? Washington literally started that war when he got in a skirmish with French troops in the Ohio river valley.
Genghis
Napoleon
Honorable mentions to Alexander, Caesar, and Muhammad.
>>1402848
>sans-magic powers
