[repost from/x/]

A thread to share the lesser known crimes and historical atrocities/odd events that lack publicity on a national/international scale like the Rape of Nanjing or maybe even the Donner Party.

I'll start.

>Peter Keller was a pants-on-the-head-prepper who made videos of his plans for 'the end' before murdering his wife and daughter and fleeing to his makeshift bunker in Kings County Washington
>He is still listed as only a suspect in the murder in most publications since he committed suicide after SWAT officers had reached his bunker.

I will never understand how people are driven to do such things even during the most brutal of conflicts.

Exactly how fucked up do you need to be to literally cut babies out of their pregnant mothers' wombs and throw children against stones until they die? How many times do you need to be raped and beaten as a child for that to seem like rational behaviour?

Rape and slavery I can honestly understand, it's fucked up but I get it, but I do not understand shit like infant mutilation at all.
>>
>>1392788
Babies they don't even comprehend what's happening and haven't had any time to form any real attachments on earth so there's not losing anything when they die.

It's not as bad as killing older children and adults tbqh.

Average population decline in German states was between 30 and 50%, but some places like Wuttemberg (area around Stuttgart) were more like 75%. Sweden alone destroyed "2,000 castles, 18,000 villages, and 1,500 towns, one third of all German towns." Typhus and other plagues swept the regions, bubonic plague broke out in northern Italy and city populations were reduced by about half.
>>
Isoviha (translated to greater wrath)

>Sweden suffers a disastrous defeat at Poltava
>Official Swedish armed forces essentially do a "nope.jpg" and retreat to Sweden
>Finland is left completely undefended after the small remnants of the Swedish army are destroyed at the Battle of Iskyrö (Isokyrö is then burned to the ground)
>Russian officers often took young girls and women from the streets of captured cities and sent them to Russia as sex slaves
>Russians hit Ostrobothnia especially hard, killing ~25% of the population and taking 20 000 captives as slaves to Russia. Mainly as sex slaves and forced labor. Torture of civilians was also regular.
>Cossacks burned and pillaged Tornio 13 times, and reportedly "beat, burned and fried" civilians to get them reveal where they had hid their treasures.

Russia in essence established a temporary military government in Finland and raped and looted the area for a couple of years as they pleased. Numbers are small but relatively very high. Finland's population at the time of Isoviha was around 400 000. During these times the plague also hit.

They came in the night
When the men were asleep
This band o' Argyles
Through snow soft and deep
Like murdering foxes
Among helpless sheep
They slaughtered the house of MacDonald

O cruel is the snow
That sweeps Glencoe
And covers the grave o' Donald
And cruel was the foe
That raped Glencoe
And murdered the house of MacDonald

Some died in their beds
At the hand of the foe
Some fled in the night
And were lost in the snow
Some lived to accuse him
That struck the first blow
But gone was the house of MacDonald

As is known, the Romans, "who have become the enemy of the race which founded it", literally destroyed this nation during its gestation. The holocust of the Celts in Gallia was perpetrated by Julius Caesar and his legions, in the first century B.C., between 59 and 51. They systematically massacred all the political leaders of that nation, their soldiers and priests, killing altogether three millions and setting fire to eight hundred towns and villages. After that, the people were economically ruined, terrorized, assimilated and Romanized. The history of Europe does not know of any other similar killings. Yet, Caesar had been whitewashed by historians of all his crimes and stands before us as a "Great European". Only the Kelti in Hungary were capable to outlive the century of hell in Europe.

>Murder 8: Nilsen could recall nothing at all about his eighth victim.

He had boasted to Nilsen how tough he was and how he liked to fight; however, once he was drunk, he proved no match for Nilsen, who hung his naked torso in his bedroom for 24 hours before he was buried under the floorboards.

The massacre at Béziers https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Massacre_at_B%C3%A9ziers?oldformat=true
A city in southern France that was a stronghold of Catharism, the French crown sent an army to eradicate the heresy and strengthen his grasp on southern France (Albigensian Crusade)
>"While discussions were still going on with the barons about the release of those in the city who were deemed to be Catholics, the servants and other persons of low rank and unarmed attacked the city without waiting for orders from their leaders. To our amazement, crying "to arms, to arms!", within the space of two or three hours they crossed the ditches and the walls and Béziers was taken. Our men spared no one, irrespective of rank, sex or age, and put to the sword almost 20,000 people. After this great slaughter the whole city was despoiled and burnt"
>"When they discovered, from the admissions of some of them, that there were Catholics mingled with the heretics they said to the abbot “Sir, what shall we do, for we cannot distinguish between the faithful and the heretics.” The abbot, like the others, was afraid that many, in fear of death, would pretend to be Catholics, and after their departure, would return to their heresy, and is said to have replied “Caedite eos. Novit enim Dominus qui sunt eius - Kill them all for the Lord knoweth them that are His” (2 Tim. ii. 19)"

the Dutroux affair reeks, but that .pdf you posted "David McGowan's programmed to kill", though really enjoyably told, and well-written story-wise, is full of complete bullshit and unsubstantiated claims. Even in the introduction he talks about Satanism and mind-control as if it were 100% real and not the moral panic that spun out of control in the 80s it actually was. In a later chapter, he mixes truth about the McMartin case wtih complete BS connections and coincidences that do not mean what he implies them to (best example: a cop who dug up some animal bones at the school was claimed to have done an independent investigation/digging for tunnels, and was "supposed to testify as to the evidence of the tunnels", but he "mysteriously" killed himself. The dude was the lead investigator on the toolbox killers murder and wrote in his suicide note he feared for his wife and child's safety...McGowan writes his death was ruled a suicide but "people close to him" had their doubts/disagreed. I know over on /x/ all this stuff is accepted full-on, including the Project Monarch part of MkUltra, Kathy O'Brien's ridiculous abuse stories by Nazi doctors who made mind control slaves to assassinate people, or act on Nickelodeon and dance on MTv...

fuck, I'm falling asleep, and I apologize to all for the poor grammar/typos in my post.

And I don't mean to offend the anon I'm replying to. I've begun looking into the Dutroux papers and it is truly disturbing. FWIW I really do like McGowan as a writer (and reading about conspiracy theories, interesting topic) - loved the Laurel Canyon piece of his - but from the parts of Programmed to Kill I've read can be very easily debunked by proper sources everywhere.

That's how a lot of these cases go. They're made so pliant via fear and abuse that they don't even think or try to escape even when everything is there for them to do so. Often times, that escape being available is a psychological tool of the kidnapper: they can try to escape but they'll face severe punishment if unsuccessful and that escape will likely be taken away making them feel like it's not worth the effort.

IIRC the same thing happened with the three girls in Cleveland. Elizabeth Smart is kind of an anomaly in that instance since she had an opportunity to escape and took it.

That they went after those who left (and a US senator and TV crew) and killed them too always stuck with me.

I think it's because those people were so painfully close to escaping (if my memory is right, to the point the plane's engines were already running.) and then got killed anyway, and because Congressman Ryan was going to give an essentially positive report of what he found, making it utterly pointless to kill him.

The death of Willie MacRae is pretty interesting.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Willie_MacRae

>At the time of his death, MacRae had been working to counter plans to dump nuclear waste from the Dounreay Nuclear Power Development Establishment into the sea. Due to his house being burgled on repeated occasions prior to his death, he had taken to carrying a copy of the documents relating to his Dounreay work with him at all times. They were not found following his death, and the sole other copy which was kept in his office was stolen when it was burgled, no other items being take

Though there's also the obligatory case that he actually knew about a Westminster pedo-ring:

My tribe pours millions into the local economy and a lot of the members of my tribe have made something of themselves as well. So for him to say that we are all a bunch of worthless layabouts just because he grew up in a shithole community offends me, fuck him. I'm surprised no one has mentioned Unit 731- or do we consider that "well known"? It's infamous in the PRC and RoC, while in Japan it's largely ignored or downplayed. From my own personal experience, I knew an older man who lived in Nagoya, and for one unfortunate week we fell upon the subject. He denied the Unit's existence, saying there is "no proof", and in response I linked him to declassified United States documents detailing the facility and describing some of the events that took place there.

For anyone who doesn't know, Unit 731 was a biological weapons development facility (among other things) installed in Japanese-occupied Manchuria during the Second Sino-Japanese war (WWII), with the approval of the Emperor, and under the leadership of Shiro Ishii. Up to 250,000 died, most of them civilians, often Chinese or Russian, and included children. Some of my favorite examples of what took place there involve; injecting horse urine into people's livers; tying people up and setting them on fire with a flamethrower; countless human vivisections; rapidly freezing limbs with liquid nitrogen and then thawing them out; and of course, the plague tests. Giving plague-laced candies to children in nearby villages and dropping containers of plagued fleas by plane onto villages, which caused deaths well into the 50's.

If anyone is interested, I recommend looking into 'Men Behind the Sun', a movie based upon the events by Taiwanese director T.F. Mou.

When Philip besieged Chateau Gaillard, he starved 400-1,200 peasants. The villagers nearby had sought refuge in the castle but were later expelled. The first groups (numbering roughly 1,000) were allowed to leave, but Philip decided to keep the rest of the non-combatants in the castle to drain its supplies. The French opened fire on them. They ran back to Chateau Gaillard, but the gates closed and they were reduced to cannibalism and eating grass. Not abnormal for Medieval sieges, though.

Apologies, I forgot to post that bit.

During our conversation on Unit 731, which began as a simple discussion- nothing said was intentionally provocative- on that subject and nothing else, he said to me "As far as I searched for primary sources for the links, none of them is not written on facts or data which should found in your country (I guess you have a lot of National Libraries preserving documents of WWII Japan.)"

He then said that all the Japanese who recognize and promote the recognition of the warcrimes are Communists. What's more curious is that after that, he changed the subject to comfort women;
"As for comfort women, an American guy did one thing.
He sent a letter to one the National Library (guess in Washington) and obtained a document, describing comfort women were "well compensated prostitutes" and "enjoyed shopping outside" and "played tennis with officers" and the likes.
"You have such a great library and all of the documentation of Unit 731 must be found there.
Why don't you ask authentic documents? (Nobody found any proof so far though)"

All of that was after I sent the documents, mind you. I asked him why he brought up comfort women, as we had never spoken about that subject before. He said "What a lot of people including Japanese believed turned out to be all lies, which made Asahi News admitted that many of their articles were wrong." and suggested that because the US was "the only country with documents on it", it was fabricated by Americans. After this, he again stated that no evidence existed, and then told me "By the way, you can get copies of the documents by writing to the Archive, if they really exist in the Archive." The documents that are available online in PDF form which I had already read and linked to him.

I'll leave you with the very last thing I received from him.

"What we need are concrete facts and data, no imagination."

And this is not the only case of genocide or humanitarian crises set forth by the Romans... The crisis of 376 A.D. against the Goths that lead into a full blown revolt... the prejudicial massacres of Gothic families after the assassination of Stilicho in 408... The numerous massacres of Christians under pagan Emperors and Pagans under Christian Emperors. Rome is violence. On does not need to look far to find a violation of human rights.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monkey_hanger

>During the Napoleonic Wars, a French ship of the type chasse marée was wrecked off the coast of Hartlepool. The only survivor was a monkey, allegedly wearing a French uniform to provide amusement for the crew. On finding the monkey, some locals decided to hold an impromptu trial on the beach; since the monkey was unable to answer their questions and because they had seen neither a monkey nor a Frenchman before, they concluded that the monkey was in fact a French spy.

I don't think he was repentant, but I do think he was disgusted and saddened.

The purge of communists was an act of self-defense, but there was too much collateral for the deed to be called an ethical decision. I have no doubt that if the communists had come into power we'd have seen far worse killings akin to Mao's China.

No, you're retarded. Points of view are meaningless unless you're doing something with them. It's like the ice bucket challenge or a frech facebook filter. No one gives a fuck what you think unless it changes what you do.

In this sense unless your friends have a belief that is entirely backwards an affecting something like, voting for an important decision, there's no reason to care at all. Most people can believe whatever they like and never change a thing in society so why care beyond how much fun you have with them?

Beyond being hypersensitive about Japan's wartime past and our disagreements over more mundane politics (we spoke back around 2012, when Japan held it's primary elections and voted in Abe, who was running a "WE'LL TELL CHINA TO FUCK OFF, AND WE'LL USE FORCE IF WE HAVE TO" campaign that appealed to the older generation. He was pro-Abe) he was really an alright guy. We mostly spoke about the Japanese language, Japanese culture, things like the Yamabushi, and so forth. As far as that went, he was genuinely insightful. It's been said a thousand times before, I'm sure; no one is completely good, no one is completely bad.

All that being said, we didn't speak after he sent me that last message, and a few months later, after his father had passed away, he dropped off the face of the earth. We all know how the Japanese are, and what they have high rates of. For a guy in his early to mid 40's, an early retiree, with no significant other and who just lost his father whom he held very close, I honestly can't tell you if this guy is even still around.

I don't even think stuff like this is all that uncommon, just think about how the average American reacts to the notion that Hiroshima/Nagasaki or the carpet bombing campaigns might be considered war crimes. To people that identify strongly with their country, mentioning war crimes feels like you're trying to accuse them personally, so they might go full damage control mode.

Seen somebody post the Massacre of Glencoe up top. Scottish history is pretty grim:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clan_Douglas#Black_Dinner

>] In 1440 the 16-year-old William Douglas, 6th Earl of Douglas and his younger brother were invited to dine with the ten-year-old King James II of Scotland.[3] Later called the Black Dinner, the occasion was organised by the Lord Chancellor, Sir William Crichton. While they ate, a black bull's head, the symbol of death, was brought in and placed before the Earl. The two brothers were then dragged out to Castle Hill, given a mock trial and beheaded.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walter_Stewart,_Earl_of_Atholl#Assassination_of_James_I

>Walter was tortured over a period of three days. On the first, he was put in a cart with a crane, hoisted up, dropped, and jerked violently to a stop to stretch his joints. He was then placed in a pillory and "crowned with a diadem of burning iron"[5] bearing the inscription "King of all Traitors". On the second day, he was bound to a hurdle and dragged along the high street of Edinburgh (some claim he was also blinded and tortured with red-hot iron pincers on this day, but Buchanan speaks only of the hurdle). On the third, he was disembowelled while alive, his entrails burnt before his face, and his heart was torn out and burnt. Finally, his corpse was beheaded and quartered, and the quarters displayed around the realm.

It has little relevance with the person or persons' actions. Alienating a mass of people over a subgroup's beliefs or actions is ignorant. Stereotypes exist, and by god do some people fit them down to the smallest detail, but that doesn't mean it should reflect on the mass.

The Stockholm Bloodbath 7-9th of November 1520.

The Danish king Kristian II, later dubbed "Kristian the Tyrant" for his crimes captured the Swedish capital of Stockholm after a brief siege since he hade previously defeated the Swedish army. After the capture of the capital his victory was complete, and as any wise ruler he sought to consolidate his rule. He sent out messages to all the prominent Swedish lords inviting them to the capital, promising to forgive and forget, to build a new future of cooperation under his rule.

After three days of lavish feasts the doors to the palace closed, and a proclamation was read out. It stated that because the lords had exiled the previous arch bishop they were to be considered heretics, and as such the king had no authority to pardon them, and the pact that they had made was no longer valid. The salughter lasted for days, and over 80 of the country's most prominent members were executed in the most brutal fashion.

This later lead to the rebellion of the son of one the executed lords, who in turn would rule as absolute monach and whose actions were even more brutal than the Danish king he'd rebelled against. To pay for the mercenaries he'd enlisted the king Gustav ransacked the county's churches, melting down the silver and gold to pay his debts. This eventually lead to a conflict with the church and that Sweden became a protestant nation.
