Why were people in the past less afraid to die?
Well most of them didn't have time to think about it too much. They also were told by people in power that it's 100% true that afterlife exists.
When people was thinking about it, they could be very scared as emperor Qin and his search for elixir of life.

yes because religion

Because death was much more common. Out of your brothers and sisters, chances were half of them would die. Your parents would die in their 30s.
I actually kind of regret that. People weren't pussies.
Because life is good now and life sucked ass in the past

What makes you think they were?

>Your parents would die in their 30s.
When will this meme end
People's lives were more difficult. Death and the promise of eternal reward in Heaven would have been a relief for enduring how shit their lives were.

It's not a meme though
>>1267578
>people in the past less afraid to die
Do you have a single fact to back that up?
>>1268178
It's a misinterpretation of actual data.
Average life expectancy was 30, that's correct. But that's just because childbirth was risky as hell and kids were dropping dead like flies. Nearly half of children did not make it past childhood. That lowered the life expectancy a lot, but it was not uncommon to be 50 years old or even 60 if you made it past childhood.

Not him, but that's really only for men. A lot of skeletons of women from ancient to Renaissance times disproportionately died in their 20s-30s as opposed to say 50s-60s.
Death in and around childbirth was a bitch.
>>1267578
They probably were just as afraid to die as we are
>>1268322
no you guys are bitches. People used to be braver
>>1267578
>Why were people in the past less afraid to die?
They were not.
But they were more used to seeing death because a lot of children died when they were young and if they lived in an "interesting" region raids and killings were not something unusual.
they drank only beer so they were constantly drunk and occasionally got high on ergot after eating contaminated wild grains, there was no rational explanation for most of the things they observed, only memes, they had every reason to believe they lived in some magical fantasy world
>>1268380
>mfw people actually believe this is true
>>1267578
They had more conviction in an afterlife, because back then it was the only reasonable solution.
Now we have doubt, for good reason.
