So what are some good materials to read up on the French Revolution (of 1789)? I want to know everything from their wars, to the governments, to the common people's society and the ideas brought forward by each faction.

Not an unfair point BUT the wiki has a pretty good bibliography. Which includes a link to an entire article about the historiography alone. Just go for some of the stuff in the 'surveys and reference' section to get started man.

It's seriously one of the most written about events in human history, there's tons of great introductions to pick from.

I'd recommend incorporating some lefebvre at least.
