How do i do this?
>>4608226
Not OP, pick a image, open two ms pain windows (shift + left click the icon), paste the image into both, select all and copy one and paste into the other.
I'm not sure I am doing this right, everything is fuzzy and my brain hurts.
Un-focus your eyes for this one.
>>4608265
It's more than that, dummy
>>4608468
some of these images were probably just put next to eachother, the real process involves changing around the perspective of parts of the image to give the impression of depth

I approve of this thread
>>4607995
thanks for dumping.
I know how to make those. If anyone has pics that would make good candidates (not too wide, clearly separated layers of depth) I can try to make a few new ones

Static cross eyed pictures are so outdated... I still search for a competitor that can manage to produce something like that <--.
BTW... I hate those anon who keep posting fake stereoscopic pictures and explaining that you only need to copy paste a picture in order to make those...
>>4608468
Here's my though after some tests.
=====
>>4608029
>>4608106
Copy paste
>>4608107
Copy paste with a filter added
>>4608110
Weird effect... I dunno how that was done.
>>4608070
I guess this one was done using an automated feature "picture to stereoscopy" or just badly done.
====
If you want to test if a cross eyed picture in an actual one, simply open the picture on photoshop or Gimp, duplicate the layer, change the layer mode to "multiply" or "gain extract" and try to overlay the left and right picture :
- If there's no lines, it's a dummy stereoscopic picture.
- If the lines thickness are the same on the whole picture, you misaligned the pictures or there's a stupid filter added on one of the side who supposed to make the depth "true".
- If part of the picture don't have lines, the method used only involved flat layers. There's a good chance that the stereoscopy is real (not the best to enjoy though).
- If lines thickness changes, there's a chance that it's an actual stereoscopic picture. But if you needed that method to check that, that's means the depth is completely random (badly made or used though an automated feature) or just not strong enough (I've seen some with 4 pixels difference).
>>4607995
>tfw I developed astigmatism and now I can't see these anymore

If anyone has any more stereoscopic gifs or webms, I'd absolutely love you for posting them.

For those specific pictures (left / right pictures are reversed) no device is needed : you "just" have to use the cross eyed method.

You can still watch 3D picture using cardboard but I don't recommend getting a good mobile phone only for that purpose.
Also... no VR hentai for cardboard ??? I'm sure there's videos or app for that.

How the fuck do you even manage to see these stuff in 3D? They are literally 2 pictures next to each other... like, nothing magically pops up in the middle and makes it look like 3D by just looking at it...
>>4620283
you have to cross your eyes and merge the two pics so that you see three of them
>>4620286
I don't think crossing your eyes is something healthy.

>>4620283

Guys, I remember there used to be a picture, that was a tutorial on how to make those kind of stereoscopic 3D cross-eye pictures. I don't have it anymore, if somebody has it please post it in this thread.
If you have some kind of tutorial on how to make those pictures, post it too. I'm interested and I'll try to contribute too.
>>4608226
Cross your eyes until you see a third black dot between the two.
Personally, I can't do this for more than a couple of seconds. I don't fap to this, but the effect is nice.
>>4607995
How do I go cross-eyed and focus at the same time? I can see the 3D effect but its all blurry for me
>>4621951
This particular image is done in parallel view, meaning you'll have to use the magic eye method to view it properly.
>>4621953
Practice. You can do it with just the images for a while.
Or try looking at a book or screen with readable text and hold your finger in front of it. You try switching focus so that you can read the text while your only see one image of your finger.
>>4621939
>>4621972
The old tutorial was completely to edit anime pictures.
But thanks, this is still helpful.
There's a quick problem we run into when trying to edit pictures like that: after selecting what parts of the picture you want to edit, how to get efficiently rid of the original image parts, without ruining the whole picture ?
exemple: there's an arm in front of a face. If you push the arm to the left to the exterior to make it look closer, you're gonna have the original part of the arm staying at the same position, and ruining the effect by making the picture look awkward.
how to handle this problem and transform efficiently ?
>>4621985
That's the whole problem: shifting the arms covers some things (maybe things you don't want to hide) and will leave a 'gap' that needs filling... that's why it's hard
I remember the guide I'm talking about used >>4613897 as a reference to explain how to edit those pictures
>>4621939
>>4621985
>>4621992
Here you go. I've never used that method personally though.
>>4621972
Hi french dude, wanna talk about stereoscopy ?
Requesting this
>>4621966
> parallel view
Wait, it is? The cross-eyed method seems to be working correctly; her hand isn't behind her hair or anything like that.
Of course, I can't really test it for sure, because I can't seem to stop myself from using the cross-eyed method on images like those as opposed to the parallel view one, but it looks to me like cross-eyed is the way to go for that one.
>>4619867
Thank you.
>>4622174
Just trust me on this. In this example image the top one is parallel and the bottom is cross eyed. http://www.vision3d.com/3views.html
Oh there's also http://www.spotthedifference.com/ which becomes super easy.
>>4622174
>>4622603
Here's the cross eyed version : you'll see the effect is better and less painful to watch.
>>4622726
What's the difference between the two image? And how do I recognize if it is parallel or crossed?
I generally use parallel because it feels more natural to get, but some images either won't focus or are extremely hard to focus and there is little to no effect at all, so I'm guessing those are crosseyed?
>>4623040
>What's the difference between the two image?
One is for parallel view (and 3d glasses if used with specific software) and the other one for cross eyed usage. Cross eyed images are just parallel images with the left/right pictures reversed.
> And how do I recognize if it is parallel or crossed?
As is, unless it get a really strong effect, you can't tell using your eyes. Use a software like photoshop or gimp to try to find which parts are different.
On a parallel image, on the right picture, things are close when moved to the left. Same effect when moving things to the right on the left picture.
In order to explain that, put your finger between your 2 eyes and you understand why it work like that (just open one eye at a time).
For a cross eyed usage, since pictures are reversed, the effects are also reversed since your right eye look at the left picture and the left eye to the right one.
>I generally use parallel because it feels more natural to get
You mean you watch parallel picture using cross eyed method ?
>but some images either won't focus or are extremely hard to focus and there is little to no effect at all, so I'm guessing those are crosseyed?
That's mean there's badly made with often a simple copy paste with sometime a filter added on one of the picture. If the depth effect suck, it won't change anything if it's parallel or crosseyed.
>>4607995
I figured out how to look at these images and holy shit it's something else.. is it just me or does the third image that appears in between look more...HD?
>>4621953
What worked me for me was that I would move my phone either towards or away from my face slowly and the image focused.. not sure how or why but it works for me
>>4622726
Welp, TIL that I've been viewing these using the magic eye method the entire time, since that one looks all reversed to me, and I can't for the life of me cross my eyes to look at it because I'm so used to using the parallel view method.
>>4622726
This one isn't working nearly as well as the previous one. I feel like I'm missing something.
Well, I guess this wasn't as easy as I though. If you have any tips on how to edit a 2D picture into a cross-eye 3D one, feel free to contribute.
Or literally any kind of in depth explanation and/or demonstration would be appreciated, if you want to make the cross-eye community bigger.
>>4609199
My first decent try, tell me what you think/how to improve
Anyone struggling who uses glasses for long distance, try wearing them for this. Seems like it helped me get it.
>>4623584
And maybe I'm retarded but nodding slightly helps focus it seems
Ok, so I looked at some of those magic eye posters and they work fine if I briefly defocus and refocus my eyes but not too far (like shuffling a deck of cards once).
All my life I've never been able to see this cross eye three dimension effect. Until now. Thx anon, and may god bless hentai for helping me see.
Friendly reminder this is how you get strabismus. I've had it in my early-mid teens and the vision therapy to correct it took years. Not fun.
>>4625077
This is why i only do free/parallel view. It was easier for me to learn and after warmup i can stare at things for half an hour, it relaxes muscles istead of straining them.
>>4625077
I don't see "crossing eyes for prolonged time" to be here, give proof otherwise. http://www.strabismus.com/causes.html
The art of good stereoscopics is rapidly dying.
Half of the images in this thread are done completely wrong, and another 40% almost work but still don't work well enough to produce good depth.
>>4626181
What's your though about the animated ones ? (I don't talk about animation quality but just depth effect)
>>4607995
>tfw I can never appreciate these because I only have one functional eye.
What's it like to be able to use these?
>>4627363
For this you could try showing one image then the other at different rates.
There was something on reddit about an optical illusion that lets people without natural depth perception experience it. 'depth perception' 'first time' should find it.
>>4627363
Also, doing this (eye crossing) is exceptionally stupid.

>>4630358
Here's the Gimp differences (Those mentioned as "Ditto" means that is similar to the original tutorial or easy enough to reproduce).
Step 1 : Ditto
Step 2 : The free select tool also produce polygonal selection. In order to get the selected part onto a new layer, simply do : Cut (ctrl + X), Paste (Ctrl + V) and click on "new layer" with the "floating selection" active.
Step 3 : Where the fuck is the step 3 ???
Step 4 : Ditto
Step 5 : Use Cage deform, Rotate, perspective tool and/or Shear tool
Step 6 : Filters > distorts > Iwarp. Doesn't work the same at all. I guess the transform tools from Krita works better but I dunno how to use those.
Step 7 : Ditto
Step 8 : Ditto
Stop 9 : Ditto
4 hours later -.-

I used this guide and got this whole thing to work pretty quickly. I probably get it faster than most because I've exercised my eye muscles so that I can twitch my iris as a party trick. But that only took a few days of exercise to be able to do on command.
http://starosta.com/3dshowcase/ihelp.html
>>4625328
Yeah it does seem like bullshit. If it's just a muscular imbalance then just make sure to move your eyes in other ways to balance out the muscles.
Learned how to do this 3 days ago. I always thought it was just a meme.
I might make make some of these myself because I have a ton of foot pics that would be perfect for this. Pic related.
>>4607995
are you telling me you can actually see a sharp image when crossing your eyes and that's somehow a three dimensional illusion?
>>4634364
Not OP but yes, that's the whole point of this thread.
>>4634364
Yes. The image itself actually looks a bit like those 3d postcards, pic related.
>>4634364
Yes. As weird as it sounds. When the image is the right distance from your face and your eyes are crossed at just the right degree the left and right images overlap, creating a third image in the middle. If you focus on that third image while keeping your eyes crossed it becomes clear and sharp, and providing the source image was done right there will be a noticeable depth in the image. If you have something like Google cardboard it's using the same technique for its 3d. The lenses just cross your eyes for you.
>>4634364
Nearly everyone can, yes. And those who can't just haven't learned it.
test
I can cross my eyes using my finger and see a single image behind but I cannot focus on that image at all. Removing my finger brings me back into normal focus.
I wish I could get this down.
>>4635426
horrifying
>>4635627
I get the same problem first : Keep practicing but instead of using your finger, try using a thin pencil (in order to better see the picture).

I always used to fap to stereoscopic porn, and now I can't get off when having sex with my girlfriend unless I cross my eyes.
>>4640857
cool story bro, you should write a book
>>4640143
Since the picture is deformed due to the fisheye effect (in order to get the 180° part of it), how did you managed to enjoy it properly ?
I would understand if you used a desktop VR viewer but I didn't found one yet that support 180° video.
>>4640073
Works well if you don't look at the face (lips misaligned) or the cum...
>>4640950
Do you mean view it properly? I wouldn't enjoyed it anyway because that's some lackluster animation.
>>4641062
Yeah, I mean "view it properly".
This was mostly made as an experimentation in order to know if that was really doable to convert a single picture into a 180° video. The answer ? Kinda... It's just I suck as an animator and having constraints don't help about that.
In fact, it's just the next level to all the webm you can see on this thread (animations I've also made).
<-- Here's the original picture
>>4641081
Oh your that guy, cool to see you stick around still. I just used parallel view to see it in 3d, although since I'm not that great at parallel I had to zoom out a bit. It might seem a little different than having it less than an inch from my eyes but I still saw it in 3d.
i can see the "third image" but it is blurry, help?
>>4641242
Stare dead center of the two images before crossing your eyes. The two images should be in focus but still in peripheral vision. Now slowly cross your eyes so the "third" Middle image appears. Keep your eyes crossed and when lined up properly the third image comes into focus.
If it's blury play with various degrees of eye crossing and distances from the screen.
Oh my god. After god-knows-how-long, I can finally do it. This shit is so awesome.
>>4641272
Thanks! I finally cracked it! Didn't think it was actually possible or would be lame, but that was quite easy and quite rad :)

>>4615320
I wouldn't expect astigmatism to affect it, being able to see these is to do with whether or not you can cross your eyes and keep the focus, astigmatism is just refractive error. Idk though, could be more to it than I think

Astigmatism bro here.

I managed to convert about 50-something lewd stereoscopic images into .mpo format. Some of the images weren't that great, and so the 3d on them isn't that great either, but they work, and a rare few are fuckin a++ in 3d quality. Some others, however, give me a headache whenever I look at them, so you'll have to play around with the analog nub thing (going all the way right generally works).
Now, where the fuck do I upload all of these?

>>4687905
Vertical shift makes no sense in 3D stereoscopy. You know why ? Because your eyes are placed horizontally. Also, even if the vertical shift could work, you still need parts to be moved differently.
Except here... all the picture is just moved up and makes no sense !
<-- Here's the overlay results (grain extract in fact)
Something that simple couldn't work at all or if that's the case, it would be fucking easy to convert any movie whatsoever !
>>4641673
I can't figure how to even start with this. I've always been able to cross my eyes, and control pupil dilation to a limited extent, but don't have a core basis to even work on this.
Just can't do it.
So first time doing this, when I go cross eyed it goes blurry, I go cross eyed by focusing on my nose. Can I fix this?
>>4688385
It fixes itself. Focus on overlaying the two images, and your eyes will focus automatically.
The brain seems like it'll do this for anything sufficiently similar in each visual field. eg you can also use it for those "find the x differences" newspaper things.

doesn't work for me, it just stays blurry, and if I try to focus it will move the images apart

>if I try to focus
You don't try to focus. Just overlay (align) the two images onto each other as well as possible, and hold that position. It comes into focus on its own, but won't happen right away.
At this point it happens immediately for me. Doesn't take very long.

I see the image and the 3d its just blurry

You can manually change your eye's focus without moving them. Practice by looking at a pencil or finger and let your eyes "relax" (no better word to describe it). You should see whatever's in the background to your finger come into focus, however the intersection point (from the rays of sight on each eye) will still be on your finger.
You might ask "but if I can make what I'm looking at blurry and the background in focus, how does that help me view these?". It helps because when viewing a cross eyed image, the intersection point is in front of the image your looking at, so you just need to do the same as the pencil trick and make the "background" in focus.
im just gonna leave this here

Is it the same trick used in these weird colored pictures that hide a message or another pic? Because if it is, it would make sense that I don't see shit. Tell me it's not and that I just need to train more for it.
I have a condition that prevents me from looking with my two eyes at the same time, so I'm pretty sure this trick won't work for me.

Yeah this and the anaglyphs don't work for one-eyed people.
>>4688438
Crosseye. Relax. Focus on the middle image since you'll be seeing three. Put your head closer or further from the image if you need to.

Yeah, this is the reverse of that. What you describe has the focal point way out near infinity so that your left eye sees the left "image" your right eye sees the right "image." The images in this thread are all cross eyed so that the focal point is between your eyes and the screen: left eye sees right image and right eye sees left image.

Weird, Can do it on my phone fine, just seems to be my monitor...

Surely because it's a smaller screen. Try again on your computer but with a smaller/unzoomed picture.
Not him, but I'm not quite getting it, but your text instructions were surprisingly reassuring.
You fucked me up /h/, i can barely adjust my eyes back. but good thread though
