The average artist with a mag deal is clearing about $50-70K yearly depending on the magazine, but that doesn't take into account professional commissions and other paid work that could increase that further.

Tankubon royalties are a lot like physical CD sales, you start out making cents per copy sold until you hit sales milestones, and most artists don't break 10K total book sales unless there's a ton of promo or the work happens to be a long-awaited title.

For the vast majority of FAKKU titles, they were already established hits and they're just driving up the royalty rate for the authors, but it's nowhere near enough to get them to six or seven figures, that's light novel territory, and hentai manga just doesn't sell in that sort of volume these days.

And 200+page tanks do not appear out of thin air. They are released on chapter by chapter basis and artists get paid all the way through. Tank royalties are a fat ass cherry on top of that cake.

And THEN you add the fact that some of those people have an enty or a patreon, sell merchendize, do commissions, do VNs etc.

Granted, it would be impossible to do all of that at the same time and it does not apply to 99% of porn artists but guess what? You havent even heard about 95% of them anyways.

They do EVERYTHING in their 4 magazines. That includes 5-10 new artists every month, and they can't give out a book when the artist only has 40 pages under their belt. Do you want them to go to Pixiv and ask random artists to make them a 20 page chapter? That's not how it works. The artist has the be paid for their work, which is what the magazine publisher does. If there's a demand for it, they'll get a book release a few years from now when it's a possibility.

You can buy directly from the Western distributor/localizer, or you can import censored, Japanese versions and pay the middleman retailer. If you're happy with the latter, good on you, but most of us here in the West prefer the former. And abysmal stocks? I checked their books and all but 2 are in stock.
