Heads up that while the patches in the OP do work with the latest version of the game, there is a serious issue with the game right now for slower PCs (or people who use mouseclick macros to rapid-fire left-click).

The issue stems from 1.9.0's new use of macros to handle clickable areas. In theory this should work perfectly, but unfortunately there appears to be a race condition in Tyrano's code which causes the game to lose track of which script it should be reading from when if you click faster than it can 'think'.

So for instance, if you click too fast in the wood scene CG, rather than looking in wood-.ks for its data, it'll get stuck in macro.ks (and break since the data is missing). If you click too fast in the "To bed" scene, it'll get stuck in Hx_set.ks instead (and again, break, because the information it's looking for is in either Hx.ks or Hx2.ks depending on which position Sylvie is in).

So yeah, you have been warned. Unfortunately this is one of those things that will either require the creators of Tyrano to debug and fundamentally alter their code... or require the creator of Teaching Feeling to stop using cross-script macros in clickable areas.

What are some of the modded names for Sylvie to call you in the modpatch?

So I'm guessing 1.8.3 save file cannot be migrated to 1.9.2? When I open the save it get all the errors, when I start a new game it works fine.
Both versions are modpatched.

Patch-kun here. Through days of testing I've finally definitively located the source of 1.9.x's clickable instabilities. It's definitely Tyranoscript's fault and not Ray's, but because it requires Tyrano's creators to fix an order-of-operations bug I don't think there is any choice but for Ray to revert his use of macros.

Let's take the fingering scene for example. To run properly, Tyranoscript calls *h_def to create the clickable areas, then *H_command in Hx_set.ks for the right-hand menu, then return to the end of *h_def to call the script terminator.

What ends up happening is that the game calls *h_def to create clickable areas, but rather than prioritize the call to *H_command it instead prioritizes your click and goes to *f_slow. This then tries to call the f_slow macro, so the game puts that aside and calls *H_command to create the menu. Once the menu is created it runs the f_slow macro, and once that's done it runs the script terminator.

So the problem is that since the script terminates on the fingering code rather than the making-the-menu-and-clickables code, you can no longer click anything or use the menu, so the game is now soft-locked.

I've already reported my findings, but at this point I don't know what to do. Sadly I don't know enough javascript to locate where Tyranoscript is fucking up and fix it. This is a little more complicated than just sanitizing command character inputs from a tex box.

Well be careful with that. If you want to run it in Wine, it's more like running a specially-crafted Windows-based browser with JS, and some versions of Wine don't handle it correctly.

If you're trying to run it natively, Tyrano isn't actually designed to do that because it can only detect Windows, Mac OSX and mobile OS. However, you can edit the game files to add Linux compatibility:

So after discussing this with my brother, the actual CS major with actual javascript/jquery/etc knowledge, he sure enough figured out an insanely elegant fix that just plain works and literally is only one line of code completely unrelated to the engine.

Moving the [call storage] function from the end of h_def to the beginning. If you do that, then the clickable areas are the very last thing to load before the script terminator no matter what, so there can be no confusion.

This only fixes the "To bed" scene, though. Fixing the CG sets would still be better done by fixing the order-of-operations problems in Tyranoscript, but in the short-term going back to the old method of not using macros for next/last will work.

You can't fix the CGs the same way because the clickable areas are actually called as macros, and since there are two clickable areas being created you can essentially get 'stuck' inside macro.ks if you manage to click before it returns to the correct CG script.

In the short term, I have updated the translation patch to fix the "To bed" bug. The CG bug I'll leave alone both because it's a lot more work, adds more than necessary to the patch, and because you shouldn't be rapid-clicking when viewing CGs anyway since the whole point is to savor each image. Enjoy!

I ran into this bug when testing on my netbook. Chances are your savefile got corrupted. In my case it was because I was transferring it over an RDP clipboard, so I just opened the savefile in Notepad++ on my remote, copied the text, pasted the text into Notepad++ on my netbook, then saved it.

In your case it may be because your PC's RAM is dying and it corrupted a read/write cycle.

To test, remove the .sav file from your game folder completely, start a new game, then save. It should work then. Also run memtest86 because if your computer is spontaneously corrupting files you're in for a bad time.

I last played this in October 2015, at version 1.16. Still got my savegame, and the only "mod" was the UI tl and the english machine translation available at the time. Would these work with the latest game or would I run into problems eventually?

Not really an easier way, no. Saves are encoded in URI format, so you could make a new save on the new version, decode your old and new save text, compare the two to find the similarities, then copy the requisite data into the required places.

I just use an online decoder. Free, fast, no software to install. Google for one. The first one you find might not decode the text correctly so if it doesn't just move onto the next result until you get one that does.

A hint though--you'll have a slightly easier time if you create as many saves in the new game as you had saved in the old game. Otherwise you won't know how the game splits save data when you decode it. It'll be a lot easier to transfer the values over if the lengths match.

Running into a bit of trouble. I've got the medicine book that lets me create stuff from flowers but since that point nothing has really moved on. I was given the chance to put herbs in the tea once and now I can't seem to proc it again. I can't use any of the drugs I've made. So I got this game the other night and I'm fairly certain I've done literally everything you can do in this game besides being terrible to Sylvie in any way. I initially bought it because I had seen some of the art around here and there and really liked the art style but god.. this game. For as simplistic as it is, it can really make you want to take care of Sylvie.
Something I would like to see in the future as much as I know all the drawing/editing/work that would need to be put forth for it is at say 6 months since she's been taken care of, had proper nutrition, diet, comfortable lifestyle, etc for her to get some amount of fat on her poor skinny body, I always feel so bad seeing her like that. And then to continue this, possibly after a year she could appear even healthier, even a small amount of growth to her flat chest. Not enough to make Flat is Justice people flip a tit over though, god know's I don't care for huge chests either. still, it's something I think would be nice to see her health progress through time, and those time goals aren't too terribly difficult to get to either if you're going for all the content the game offers.
Another idea which would take even more work and I doubt I'd ever see it make it's way into the game is an actual end goal such as marriage/partnership in some way/Sylvie growing somewhat more mature, etc. but again, doubt anything like that would make it in considering how much work would need to be put forth for content like that.
What do you guys think? Any other ideas for additional content you'd ever want?
