When you build a portfolio, many people will look at your stuff and assume whatever they can get from you will just be a variation of the stuff you offer them. So the work you'll get will be the work you show.

Or they fear their stuff will get associated with hentai if they hire you. And it actually might. People may google that stuff you did for them, and wonder why half the results are little anime girls getting raped and eaten, or victorian women who fart, get decapitated and fart again.

Also, when you create amazing art that some people can't even imagine doing themselves, and you obviously poured years into creating hundreds of high quality hentai of some obscure fetish (because you need a niche), it will look like you're obsessed with it.
