0.2.1 Bugfix Patch is Now Available.

This is a bugfix patch for 0.2. Unless a game-breaking bug is discovered in the next few days this will be the last release until 0.3 is completed. Please continue to report any bugs you find so that they can be fixed in 0.3.

Bugs Fixed:

Oracle hints for Kurumi not functioning.
Oracle Hints for Alexis not working on updated saves.
Numerous Achievement System bugs.
Miyu text glitch on updated saves.
Ootori variable declared incorrectly.
Kurumi didn’t check for negative stamina
Arcana appearing in the Classroom before she is unlocked
Sperm Donation Mechanic locked out with updated saves.
Kira speaking as Kiriya
Prevented rollback in mini-games so you can’t undo progress.
Installation Instructions:

Overwrite your current 0.2.0 files with the files in this patch.

Note for OSX/Linux players: You should check the file permissions of the files before and after you overwrite to ensure they stay the same.

If you don’t want to deal with the patching process a complete download with all fixes will be released when we stop supporting 0.2 and start work on 0.3 on Friday.

As a small update, I added some new random girls for next version, pic related being one of them, and Inase Kohane from Tsuyokiss too (suggested by an anon).

If you'd like a specific random girl make sure she has a high enough resolution, enough scenes, isn't too /d/ and has easily available sprites before making a suggestion.

Not saying this game is realistic in general but you can try to fix money problems elsewhere.

It is far too easy to get money now and that mainly thanks to clicker game.

Either restrict that and tie certain click levels to game achievements or character unlocks or make new endgame characters REALLY expensive

The latter would kind of retarded though because it would limit girl choices far too much. You can't add additional school girls or fairly ''common'' people and slap a million dollar pricetag on them.

So yeah. Either:
1) Limit the ways people are able to make money early on
2) Reduce the effectivity of stuff like the clicker game

I recall the lottery being far too forgiving as well. I had like 5 million and one point from clicking and ended up investing all of that in lottery tickets which increased my amount fairly quick.

When's the next update, and what's planned for it?

Also, not trying to tell devs how to do their job but if they're planning on implementing a girl for every unfilled ? on the Harem screen it seems a bit too ambitious. I think fleshing out existing characters and maybe adding only a couple more would make for a better game. Potentially even having encounters with multiple girls or having some interesting story arcs develop between them.

You're going to need to do more than that. My advice is to try to do a lot more than just impregnate. Even after you impregnate her, just keep cumming inside until you basically have no more stamina. Also, try to talk to her a couple times every encounter. Visit her through both the My Harem option and by going to the gym at school. Basically, you need to give her all the attention you can possibly give. Other people have different results (I think she is just bugged because nobody really has an accurate and consistent answer on how to progress with her other than to fuck her hundreds of times in as many ways as possible).

Barring technical limitations related to the length of the text boxes etc., the Woolsey FF6 translation is extremely good even by modern standards.

Good translation isn't about looking up each individual word and then giving that to your players with the exact right grammar as "precisely" as possible, because words, sentences, and idioms are practically never 1:1 matches - especially when they appear in a complex context.

Instead, a good translation understands the connotation and subtext of a scene within not only the language, but also the cultural reference frame, of the source material - - then takes that and creates something that gives the same or a similar impression to the reader of the translation, with loyalty to the actual original message and all of its artistic merit; not to autistic word mincing built on a tragic misunderstanding of how languages compare to each other.

For example, if something entirely unsaid would be obvious to a japanese reader when looking at some scene, but it would not be obvious to a culturally english reader, then a good translation needs to contain something new that brings across the lost cultural context.

The "direct translation" mindset is a mistake, and is a big part of the reason why japanese VN translations most often range from nonsensical to dry-as-cardboard. If that way of looking at the job was correct, Google Translate would basically be all we needed.
But it's not. It translates words and grammar, but that approach destroys everything not blatantly obvious about the message.

FF6 came out on a 2.4 MiB cartridge, and the original Japanese data amount was edging towards 2.3 MiB. One character does not exactly equal one byte (due to control bytes, encoding - '...' being one byte for example, and so on) - but the additional 100 KiB were simply not enough to hold all the new font data and the text. Even if you optimize the ROM with modern tools, you get 6K-7K additional characters out of it at best.

Squaresoft could have gone out and released the game on 3.2 MiB cartridges, giving additional 800 KiBs of space and thus enough room to contain a decent translation. They didn't do it because they were Jews even back then.

Extensive chunks of texts in the WOR had to be removed because he couldn't make them fit, Cayenne/Kaien was made into some sort of action hero rather than an actual medieval retainer, and in some cases the very story was changed (for example Kefka turning against the Emperor, not him suddenly betraying Kefka).

Lost the second part because my browser is a fucking piece of crap and the developers deserve to be boiled in lard.

Or take the opera scene text. Woolsey later said that he put additional effort into that text, but I can't believe that. The text isn't close to the Japanese original, but that would have been OK if he had at least made the text match with the music. And it didn't. "Modern standard" would have been the GBA translation - hey, they sometimes made some mistakes there as well (calling Espers "mindless" when they were "soulless"), but at least they got the rhythm right.

It was OK-ish by then standards, when we had translations like FF4 where it was clear that non-native speakers did the translation ("Was it Fire? I'll show you how!"), to the point where there were no grammatical or spelling errors. But calling it "extremely good" is either blatant fanboyism induced by major amounts of nostalgia, simple ignorance because you are talking about things that you have no idea of, or just fucking bullshit/trolling.

And you know what the best thing is? All of this has NOTHING - N-O-T-H-I-N-G - to do with the things that you later annotated, about good translations being not literal. And I wouldn't even care. I don't really care about "Son of a Submariner". But I care when the lack of quality is so apparent that it hurts everyone with an equally apparent brain. Because you can be sure that I hate literal translations equally, and everyone who wants to have honorifics or whatever included in their translations can just go take a potassium pill.

I have been working on the Linux kernel, on the nouveau kernel module exactly, and argued with some IRC guys about the atrociously bad quality of the code (instead of well-defined opcodes just random hexvalues being written there). It was the last time I audited something for free.

I have written a new memory management engine in C, working on Windows and POSIX system, with a semi-template-like array pointer system that would allow to have an variable amount of pointer values within an entry type. This system gets rid of user-space locks upon code allocation (there is simply no need for global data anymore), reuses memory chunks heavily (effectively allowing you to free Gibibytes of memory with a simple mov instruction), and also goes easy on limited resources like CPU caches and TLBs.
