Let me try and explain it from an artist standpoint.

1. Proportions.
They are an exaggerated commentary on the fact that women tend to get fatter with age. Naturally, artists omit RL aspects of it that are widely regarded as the opposite of sexiness. Things like cellulute, formless ass/boobs, lack of hourglass shape etc.
