It is a bit picky, that's true. However it's not *just* because the edit requests are same-ish.
Bear with me through this awful reasoning:

Art deliveries outside of drawthreads are often due to a lack of capability of producing original work. However anons can create derivative work.
Derivative in the sense that the resulting work is based off of an existing piece.
The scope of work then should be limited with this in mind.

Colour requests fit the bill perfectly. They work off of an existing piece and don't really add new detail... mostly. Minor cleanup is common.

Edits are still derivative, but introduce new details. It's cool to see skilful edits, but some of these requests are plain ridiculous. Am I complaining about the "bush" requests? Only in part.
People are pretty much posting SFW content in hopes of getting it made NSFW. The problem with this is that you turn /h/ into /e/. Apart from clearly breaking the rule in OP:

It also means that requests are far more difficult as well as being pretty boring. Look over this thread for example, it's all rulebreaking images so far.

Perhaps my philosophy is in the minority, but it's my understanding that these threads are created in order to get rid of censorship and bring monochrome images into full colour.
To remove artist credit and pull interest away from their respective hub (Patreon, Tumblr, Pixiv, whatever) just seems entirely out of scope.

Each time an artist's credit is removed they'll move towards making it more difficult to remove in the future. It's something that is taken very seriously.
Plus, if you like their work, consider showing support towards them. Get that fullres uncensored content and enjoy that instead of this watermarked thumbnail.
Or don't, no harm done.
